Heard a little of the morning show with Lachlan McLean and Andy something. Anyway, they had a poll question asking if UK fans would rather get a win against UF tomorrow, or get commitments from both Barrett and Williamson. They said football game won with 58 percent. I'm calling shenanigans. I take the commits every day and twice on Sunday.

If it's, Barrett/Williamson commit to UK tomorrow, or UK win over Florida and we take our chances with Barrett/Williamson. I'll take this Florida game. If it means we WON'T get either commit at any point.....tougher call....but I'm probably a bigger football fan that the average UK basketball fan.

I'd rather have the Florida win. It's a huge recruiting weekend and a win over Florida could set us up bigly with some major recruits and help further the program even more. It also means we probably start the season 6-0 and will be ranked in the top 25. If we were to miss on Williamson and Barrett it would really suck but Cal will still land some quality players to compliment the talent we will return off this year's team.

Choosing the game is really short-sighted. We can win tomorrow and then lay an egg somewhere down the line or lose tomorrow and go to Starkville and get a huge win.

Landing the two best players in the country has way more significance. I'd say the same thing if you asked me if I'd rather get the 1 and 2 in the ESPN Football 300 or beat Kansas early in the season.

This. I think Cal might be able to put together a quality team. Just maybe.

One game in one season in football, for a traditionally poor program. Is a million times different than one game for the best of college basketball.

That traditionally poor program is no guarantee of anything. We can beat Florida and go lose to Eastern Michigan and not a soul here would be surprised. The difference in 7 wins and 8 wins is not equivalent to the difference in a Sweet 16 and a national title.

Choosing one game over a full season of contributions is a bad decision, emotions aside.

Give me the football win. How about we get both the commits AND the win?

so if we don't land those two players, Cal will be unable to have a good season? Or is it; that getting those two will guarantee a NCAAT?
See, it goes both ways.
I think it is just naïve to believe (after falling short ourselves and Duke last year) that two freshman players are going to be almost guarantee in winning a NCAAT.

If you want to pretend like historically the basketball team has failed to deliver important wins and demonstrate consistency at the same rate as the football team, there's not a lot more discussion to be had.

Regardless, two prospects who will play an entire season are more valuable than one individual game. Would you trade a Florida win for Crucial Player X on the football team getting hurt for the rest of the year? No. Because a season of performance from great talent trumps one win or loss.

Besides, look at the stakes. One is for a Music City Bowl invite or Outback Bowl bid while the other yields a potential national title.

It's just a pure numbers game, aside from "the streak."

Most of your response makes sense. But that first paragraph is a complete made up argument.
Well just in leave it there

choosing the recruits is really short-sighted. we could lose tomorrow(and when i say we, i am not talking about you) land the recruits and they never play a second of basketball at UK. overseas, injuries, change of mind.

And in your experience those theoretical possible outcomes are equally likely?

I love Kentucky football.

I'd take those two basketball recruits over an undefeated championship football season.

Sue me.

I'd take the comittments because titles is my 1st and really only priority, and that gives the University the best chance at winning a title. UK Football is getting much better, but we are not winning a title in my lifetime our yours so stop kidding yourself.

They probably had the polling question on the football page or show. You ask that to 100 UK fans and it is at least 70% basketball recruits.

Only58 percent of the football page would want the fb win? It wasnt the fb board trust me. That would yield more like 100 percent

Or maybe our fans want to win in football. It's only shenanigans to you because you don't agree.

Good lord this truly is the Raftards.

So, you believe more UK fans would rather have a football win yesterday over getting commits from the top 2 recruits in basketball? Who's the real Raftard?

I do. People trust Cal, and so do I, but that win would have been special.

Idk why that's so hard to believe

This is as stupid as it can get. UK is a BB school and always will...Getting Zion and Barrett would be a million times more important than a regular season win in FB.

Stoops is a nice recruiter and a defensive coordinator, but can he coach.. that was without a doubt the worst coached 4th quarter I've ever seen..I want to keep him though. UK can't-do better. He can learn on the job

Some of those may have thought they were talking about UK beating Florida in basketball. But more likely, many UK fans support both basketball and football, so it is quite believable that 42% of UK fans on a football page in the middle of football season still support basketball more than football.
