Eric Bossi ranks top freshmen, puts Sheppard at #3, Dilly at #4

If Wagner continues to play like he did vs Florida, UK will have three of the top five.

It's funny because he is playing way better now at the one thing everyone complained about:

3PT% - 31.7%
3PT% - Last 9 games - 37.5% (basically - remove first 3 games)
3PT% - Last 5 games - 46.2%

He's now being under-rated, which says that you probably shouldn't make such rankings based on small sample sizes.

Cal has always cared more about rankings and hype than winning. He’ll play Wagner and Edwards over those 2 and take it to his grave it was the right thing.
Always funny when people spew BS like this and act like they know it's a fact. Do you really think Cal just checks a Rivals ranking list and just starts the guys who are highest? You don't think if that were true it would cause issues with the team?

The rotations right now are working fine and everyone seems content with their role on the team. In the last five games Edwards is averaging 18 minutes per game, Sheppard 25, Dillingham 22, and Wagner 30. Wagner proved against Florida he deserves his minutes because he can basically get to the rim at will. Edwards has seen his minutes cut since the beginning of the year because he's not progressed like some of the other guys have.

Man, it’s taking me so long to jump aboard the Dillingham train. Not sure why.

Is there anyone else with me?

He’s very streaky, and has some absolutely horrific stretches in games. Saturday was a great example. One of the worst 3 minute stretches of the season for any player. But then there’s that run he went on vs Kansas (before Cal took him out of the game 🤦🏻‍♂️)

I’m prepared to get raked over this opinion. But I can take it.

Because even when he plays great games he's got a handful of out of control moments that make you shake your head. He can light up a stat sheet but every time he has the ball you don't know if he'll hit a big shot or try to make a circus play and turn the ball over.

Completely agree. Sadly, the guy you are responding to is a one-string banjo. He has a h***-*n for Cal and won't let it go. Not even worth responding to him/her/they/them/whatever.

Nah man, I'm right there with you. I LOVE his energy, talent, enthusiasm, and fearlessness, but it makes me nervous every time he has the ball.

Sort of like I would cringe every time Keith Bogans would try to drive the lane with the ball. He was a GREAT player and did great things here, but driving with the ball wasn't one of them imho. It seemed like half the time, he would turn it over, bounce it off his foot or the opponent's leg, etc.

He has 843 D1 wins. So ether caring more about rankings and hype is an incredible path to success in college ball or you are a clown. My guess...

Those who knew his game comimg in (not me) said this would be the case with him.

I am much more concerned with Reeves and Tre Mitchell playing big minutes, while not playing anything that resembles defense. This will be a much bigger factor when we have another early exit in March.

No sense of ranking them until after half the conference is done because things are getting ready to change for some people....
Conference doez that to some ...

We have two players that play anything that resembles defense. Thiero and Wagner.

Singling out our best offensive player is weird.. I’ve never seen a poster with a bigger agenda against a Uk player than you have with Reeves. It’s odd.

I’m convinced 95% of this board couldn’t judge an entire body of work based on anything. It’s like dude hit threes first game… number one pick.

Dilly has to prove trustworthy with game on the line. Reed did it this week with the free throws but didn’t do much before that and still made a dumb play at end. Reed and dillingham made very bad plays to end Kansas game. Dilly is slow on defense and gambles too much.

Dillingham is going to be a great player for us. But anyone who clamors for him to be in over Wagner at end or start over are not serious basketball followers.
