One of the things I like to look at is in conference efficiency margins as I think it provides a good snap shot on where teams are at. Not so much for comparison between conferences but it's really good for comparing teams within conferences IMO, especially a conference like the Big 12 that plays a true round robin schedule.

Anyways take them for what they are worth. I like looking at them when I fill out my bracket and thought maybe some others would find it useful. Hopefully the format looks good lol.

Good info. Not sure if this is possible at all but i have always wondered why there isn’t an option to add a table to a post. Seems like that would be a very useful function here

Off the charts numbers for Gonzaga, but not surprising with mostly low major conference members.

Surprising to me was that looking at it this way, Kansas, Duke and Michigan St were clear cut above the pack in their conferences.

Especially in the Big Ten to gain that amount of separation.

Kind of odd how dominant Duke and Michigan State were in conference efficiency wise yet Michigan State ended in a 3 way tie for first in the Big Ten and Duke a 3 way tie for second in the ACC

Yeah for the most part you see the overall numbers playing out to the same order as record........but definitely not always.

Washington definitely who ended up outscoring their opponents in Pac 12...........and yet finished dead last at 5-13. That's hard to do lol

What does CUSA look like?

UK's numbers don't look so good against the B12 and ACC.

If these figures consider "points per possession", then wouldn't UK naturally look worse bc we don't take, nor rely on 3s like most teams? Relative to most teams, we hardly take them.

Unbalanced scheduling. Top 6 seeds in the big ten tourney, Wisconsin only played 4 of the other 5 teams once. MSU for example played 4 of the other top 6 seeded teams twice as did Maryland. Wisconsin isn’t a top 4 team imo in the big ten but schedule won them a share

Not necessarily. There's many ways to get points. Some teams shoot threes. We feast at the line to make up for that difference.

You have teams like Gonzaga and BYU that make quite a bit of threes and thus are high on offensive efficiency numbers. LSU, Iowa and Kansas on the other hand have good offenses but don't make a great % from 3.

There's actually four most important things.
Shooting the ball well.
Don't turn it over
Rebound
Get to the line.

We excel at getting to the line. For a large portion of Cal's tenure here, we've also excelled at rebounding on offense. So although we weren't taking and making many threes........we rebounded a lot of our misses and got to the line and we were efficient that way.

When it comes to the 3 ball, it's really how well can you shoot it. Making 34% from 3 is equal to making 51% from 2. So if you are north of 34%, maybe as a team you should take more threes and rely on it.

2018 Villanova was over 40% from 3 as a team. Not only that but they had four guys over 40% and another one at 39%. So it just made sense for them to bomb from 3.

Posted wrong for CUSA . This is them. That looks better.

For those who are curious how this UK teams compares to its predecessors in conference efficiency margin, they'd rank somewhere close to the bottom of the Calipari era. Here is how they rank in efficiency margin:

1. 2012 26.1
2. 2015 25.9
3. 2016 17.2
4. 2019 15.9
5. 2017 15.5
6. 2010 14.0
7. 2011 11.2
8. 2019 8.4
9. 2014 8.1
10. 2013 3.4*
11. 2018 2.4
