Yep that was applause worthy! Kudos on that one lol

All of the people who are saying it was no big deal were not in the path of totality. You didn't get to actually experience the eclipse. No one can witness that for two and half minutes and say it was nothing.

Exactly. When it got totally dark outside and that glowing corona was visible, wow just wow. Seeing it as a partial, I agree not much to holler about but totality is another beast. And the Diamond Ring, A+!

Guess I expected more. As I stood outside waiting for it to get at least a little dark, it never did. Left work at 7:00 last night and pretty much looked the same then as it did during the peak of our eclipse.

It got really dark here at the peak. The light level working up to totality had the weirdest feeling to it though. I can't describe it otherwise, just had this creepy feel.

It caused me to have flashbacks
Saw it, not in Paducah, but it was so cool. There will be one that passes through somewhere in Ohio in 2024 I believe.

I think i heard that cincinnati will be in totality in 2024.
We had 91% coverage yesterday. i was a little disappointed. i thought that with 91% of the sun covered it would be near darkness, but it just appeared as an eerie cloudiness.

Agreed. Totally different experiences, partial eclipses are cool, but nothing like the full experience. Not in the same ballpark, or city for that matter.

Nope,, only goes over as far as Columbus.. In Ky the counties will be Carlisle,, McCracken,, Ballard,, that set of counties that stick out the furthest on Ky's map.. Same with Livingston to Henderson.. That gap that comes in between McCracken and Livingston will be the furthest totality comes into Ky.. Goes on up through Evansville Indiana n over to middle of Ohio..

Why would your electronics stop working in an eclipse? That doesn't even make sense.
Lots of internet went out around here.. Ours went out pretty much the 94% totality happened.. If you could stand to take a quick stare at it without the glasses,, you could see Venus about 10" to the side if it.. And yea, yea yea.. They said jacking too much would make you blind too..

I love astronomy but just couldnt get excited about an eclipse
I thought the same and got dragged to Bowling Green to watch it. It was much cooler than I thought and am glad I went. Watching the 360 degree sunset, seeing all the street lights come on and hearing crickets during the eclipse was really cool.

I'll probably go out to one of the Lakes out there and camp that weekend,, then ride out to one of the counties.. It's my birthday weekend anyway so I'll extend it a day into Monday.. Camping,, fishing,, drinking,, smoking pot and watching a full eclipse.. Works for me..
Now that's a plan. I'll go with ya, if ya need support. If we only had a boat.

I work in Paducah. Got back to Bowling Green Sunday, still had about 2 minutes of totality. Breath taking.

If you could post this over on their site with a subtle title to draw them in like "pics of the eclipse"...you might just become legend. We would need to screen shot the number of views to see just how many got sucker punched before they deleted it.

I watched it in Hopkinsville and it was awesome. There was a brief period about 30 minutes before totality when the sun went behind a cloud. That sucked.

Glad I just went to Owensboro instead of driving home to Lexington yesterday. Took me 4 hours to get to my parents house. On KSR today they said Ryan Lemond didn't get back to Lexington until almost midnight.

The cat may be out of the bag. Not Jerry Tipton has tweeted it. If you want to do it though, you have my blessing.

Lol...about 100 people at our site in Hopkinsville groaned when that big cloud rolled over. But it was moving off pretty fast, and there wasn't another big cloud in the sky.

The only downside of the whole thing is that I ordered a set of solar binoculars off of amazon from a 3rd party. 2 weeks later an envelope with 5 knock off eclipse glasses showed up. Amazon refunded it but I wanted those binoculars dang it :(

Road tripped overnight from Indianapolis to Carbondale, IL to watch it in totality. Definitely worth it. The center line in 2024 will only be about 6 or 7 miles from my house in Greenwood, IN. Home will be a premium viewing spot for that one.

It was unbelievable that all of southern Illinois was caught up in such an unbelievable traffic jam. It felt like the bottom third of the state was a parking lot. Grew up in southern IL and knowing the alternative routes helped quite a bit, but there was no avoiding backups no matter what you did.

There is a zero chance this could possibly be true.

Some of y'all are getting carried away here.

Please refer to where I said it stopped working solely because the moon past over the sun.

I had a cellphone and it stopped working and loading songs. Couldn't send text. Now the reason is because there were about 7 football stadiums worth of people in an area the size of a small city. It was still cool to watch. Hope you got to see it.
