Eaglestaff to South Carolina

Dang! He's one i really really wanted. Can't believe we let South Carolina out duel us for him. He will win some games for them this year.
Kids have and always will continue to do stupid things. This was the only thing I was worried about losing Cal. Pope is a great coach, but he doesn't have the name draw yet.

That being said neither does freaking Lamont Paris. This reeks of a guaranteed PT issue.

Personally, I consider the entire city of Columbia to be in the armpit of South Carolina. Love Charleston love the coast. South Carolina, upstate, meh. It’s a good college town and has a bar scene for sure. It’s just freaking hot and sticky and to me outside of the school ain’t a hell of a lot to do there.
I rode through Columbia once as a kid when my dad went the wrong way. I wasn't exactly blown away.

Much rather have the kid from Georgia. I think he can be the PG if we don't get anyone else. He can be the SG if we do get someone else at PG. Proven SEC level talent.

Absolutely, this kid can play either guard spot and help us. To be honest on film he looks better than the unlv kid, imo.

Dent and Eaglestaff. Are the reports true about Gwath picking Michigan?

Need some positive momentum for portal recruiting. I know it's early but everyone's hat is on the table and I'd feel better if we secured a bonafide starter.

I''m not losing faith but I don't mind saying I'm getting a little worried.

Right now we have a total of one consensus top 25 recruit and have missed on everyone else we've considered for next year except for Acaden, who is outside the consensus top 25, a skinny homegrown center, who is also outside the consensus top 25, and Kam Williams. Williams' stats do look fine. But he got them as the fifth leading scorer on a weak team in a nothing conference so I'm kinda hoping he's not our great white hope.
I just looked at the 2 most referenced rankings, and:
Johnson 17, 18 (average 17.5)
Lewis 20, 25 (average 22.5)
Moreno 27, 23 (average 25)
So not just 1 top 25.

And you didn’t consider many players already were down to a short list when Pope took the job, and knew vey little about him.

Kinda OT, but is Columbia a nice campus and town? I've never been there.
Their campus is beautiful and well maintained. But the section for athletes is amazing. It’s basically a private resort with clubhouses, gyms, restaurants, and pools to go along with really nice apartments. They have everything a college kid could want.

Most-referenced has no meaning. What I quoted are the actual composite rankings.

How do you know what I considered or didn’t consider?

What I said was simple and true. We have never won a single NIL money battle.

And FWIW, show me where a single one of the NIL battles we lost was decided by some player having a short list that we got on late. It sure wasn’t anyone who mattered, not Great Osobor or Achor Achor or Chaz Lanier or anyone we missed on whom we were hoping would make a difference. Those people took money bags and after they were off the table we replaced them all with people whom we paid less money than they took. I love our players but it is what it is. You’re fantasizing or something. Like you’re in one of the stages of grief. That’s okay man. Deal with things how you need to. But I’m just talking unadorned numbers in all cases.

Arkansas spent more than us and had more cal players and same resorts. Well more losses. It’s okay to lose some players if u gotta spend too much on them.

The portal is strange because there is a reason players are in the portal in the first place. Hopefully the staff can get the guys that will fit their system and not just settle with players to fill out a roster.

What a disingenuous, incredulous way to think.

A whole bunch of posters on here are "fans" of being miserable about semantics more-so than the University of Kentucky's sports programs.

My goodness Pope and company need to get to work!

i hope that is sarcasm. everyone hasn't entered portal yet. That is 2/3 options picking other schools maybe. Its about how they fit in and what we need and how much money. If you spend 2/3 million and don't have money to give other players like Osobor did then your team is gonna be shit.
