Eaglestaff to South Carolina

There is nothing great about Columbia location although relative to North Carolina and Georgia the cost of the living is a bit better. However, the location also causes some of the hottest weather without the benefit often of cooling wind. Like other cities the traffic sucks as well. None of that means anything in terms of his selection.

There can only be two reasons, well maybe 3. One is $$$ from NIL. Two, he knows someone there and makes the choice familiar. Three....they promised him to be the focus on offense. All three sum up he didn't want to be at a blue blood and that is never a good sign for someone who wants to be drafted.

Gotta be a girl involved
Imo he saw a PT issue at ky!
PG. Portal, Lewis, J Johnson
SG. J Johnson,Chandler,OO
SF. Oweh,Williams,Noah
PF. Portal, Portal/ 2nd portal could rotate @ C.
C. Garrison/portal,Moreno,
That's 12 deep! The only way I saw him coming was if OO went to the draft, or someone like chandler jumped in the portal
If he moved in front of Chandler
He still was a 20 min @game guy!
Why some think these guys are coming here to wait on there turn is beyond me!

P.S. I also think Lewis will be a 20-25 min 10ppg guy! I just like his attitude/approach and think he will surprise a lot of people!

Kinda OT, but is Columbia a nice campus and town? I've never been there.
Doesn’t matter anymore! It’s 90% NIL now, and 10% program/ coach/ tradition, and everything else!

See BYU/ Dybansta for example.

Edit: It’s literally why most of these dudes aren’t even taking “official visits” anymore! Just Zoom Call and tell them what their fit is, and how much NIL you can offer! Everything else be damned!

Wants to be by the beach?

Hopefully that’s not the case…he’s gonna be surprised when he gets there and it’s 3 hours from the coast
I lived in Clemson and I was surprised how many people thought I was right next to the beach. Yeah, maybe Lake Hartwell.

The heat and humidity in Columbia are unbearable, that's going to be a huge change from North Dakota. Maybe that's what he wants.

actually glad he chose to goto south carolina. Keeps the overall strength of the SEC players at a higher average throughout the league and not to any big name school like a UCLA or Kansas , etc.

There's not many spots left for players on this ship. we're getting close to getting packed.

add Demary ??

Was honestly just curuius about their campus and town, cause I've never been there. Hence, "kinda OT".

Personally, I consider the entire city of Columbia to be in the armpit of South Carolina. Love Charleston love the coast. South Carolina, upstate, meh. It’s a good college town and has a bar scene for sure. It’s just freaking hot and sticky and to me outside of the school ain’t a hell of a lot to do there.

I had actually forgot about him with the amount of recruits we are in on. Maybe I'm wrong but a lot of us on here, myself included, didn't think he fit the more athletic/stronger/better defensive direction that we claim we wanted the staff to go in for this next roster. I love AA, but I seem to recall this board was upset about having guys like him take up roster spots that could only shoot 3 pointers and bring nothing else to the table. I definitely don't want to see some (you know who they are) fake crying now over this guy not picking UK and pretending the sky is falling. Just work with Noah this off-season, getting him in better conditioning in the weight room, and develop him to be a similar type player to this (hopefully better) off the bench.

I''m not losing faith but I don't mind saying I'm getting a little worried.

Right now we have a total of one consensus top 25 recruit and have missed on everyone else we've considered for next year except for Acaden, who is outside the consensus top 25, a skinny homegrown center, who is also outside the consensus top 25, and Kam Williams. Williams' stats do look fine. But he got them as the fifth leading scorer on a weak team in a nothing conference so I'm kinda hoping he's not our great white hope.

Plenty of okay guys in the portal. I'm sure a few great ones will enter too. But each of those will be a feeding frenzy for a lot of hungry sharks in the water. To date, including from last year, we have never won a single portal NIL cash battle where after the smoke cleared you could say Kentucky got that boy because we were willing to pay more than the competition. And we have lost a LOT of battles that way. And the hour is getting late-ish. Maybe not necessarily late. But definitely late-ish.

(FWIW I was never interested in Eaglestaff personally. But knowing the staff was and he's popped off the table, that's what brought this all to mind. Could be we just thought more about him and decided no. Who knows. )
