The combination of Ingram, Kennard, Thornton, and Jeter combined to shoot 4-18 from the floor, scored a total of 13 points, committed 9 turnovers, and dished out 5 assists. They also had 6 rebounds. A truly great effort and absolutely worthy of that ESPN #1 ranking.

Meanwhile, the lowly Kentucky class combined for 37 points on 16/33 shooting; grabbed 15 rebounds; dished out 8 assists with 7 turnovers.

Geez, I just wish we could land a #1 recruiting class sometime. Clearly, Coach K is beating Calipari at his own game.

it's paul bicardi...right. not sure spelling. But he is really terrible at rating.

I'm not sure why they have him still leading it. They make ESPN look stupid.

No recruiting class with Chase Jeter in it should be the number 1 class. Never have liked his game. He's a below the rim player like Okafor, but nowhere near the quality of player. He's an elevated 5-star because of the team he signed with. Duke got a rotational 4 year player. Thornton will be on the bench next year. That doesn't mean he won't develop in to something, but he's a not there yet. Ingram is going to be a pro. Kennard is probably a 4 year player.

Kentucky on the other hand has 3 guys that are possible lottery picks in the 2016 NBA draft. Then there is Isaac Humphries who is very talented. He could be a lottery pick in 2017. No way this Duke class is better. Hell, I didn't even mention Charles Matthews. He'd be no worse than Duke's 3rd best freshmen. ESPN would probably have Charles in the top 10 had he signed with Duke. At the least one of the last 5 stars.

Time will tell, but I believe Im not wrong.

Loved that UK totally schooled Allen on both ends of the floor. Exposed him completely. Not sure if UK has ever had a backcourt like this.

I think you're right about Biancardi.

ESPN brought in Dave Telep for about 3 years, and suddenly the stupidity level of their recruiting coverage dropped. You might not have agreed with everything they did, but when Telep was there, you weren't seeing patently dumb stuff like John Wall at #5 overall. Telep took a job with the Spurs about 2 years ago, and suddenly, ESPN is back on the short bus. Biancardi's been there the whole time, so it seems clear which direction the blame goes.

The default position for the media is "Duke is #1". Takes a lot to move them from that.

I said it all summer. Thornton, Jeter and Kennard are so ridiculously overrated it's unbelievable.

Ingram had an off game, but he obviously didn't look better than skal, Murray or Briscoe last night.

Good point. Ingram is a top 5-7 pick next summer, but while Murray looked like a 5th year senior out there, Ingram looked like a deer in headlights.

Coach K may not be long for the game if he has to rebuild every season as a seventy-something, military-minded coach who openly resents the OAD system. Rebuilding every year is not as easy as the media has tried to make it seem.

I mean, let's be honest here. Unless Allen is more like his first 2 games than last night, that team isn't doing anything this year. That win won't even boost our SOS.

It'll be interesting to see if ESPN has the balls to keep calling Duke's class the top class after they got dominated on a ESPN broadcast by the supposed number two. That Murray kid that they chose to ignore in the rankings had a pretty decent game last night.

I disagree. They won't face another team with our level of athleticism all year. Their bigs rebound very well and I saw potential and fight in Thornton. They will challenge UNC for the ACC title.

UK has the #1 class in 2015 per the 24/7 composite rankings. ESPN refuses to acknowledge Jamal Murray as being part of our class which is why they're still saying Duke has the #1 class for 2015. If they'd actually include Murray, we'd be #1 by far.

For the record, according to 24/7, Duke only has a slight edge on UK for the #1 class in 2016. A commitment from Malik Monk would push us up and over them.

Humphries is better than Jeter. Murray is better than Ingram. Briscoe is better than Thorton. I would probably take Skal over Kennard. Matthews is better than any walk on they might have. David is better than their manager. Sounds like a mismatch.

A friend texted me last night during the game and said "I know that Kennard was a UK fan, but ugh, he oozes Dukie"

I wholeheartedly agree

This is what I don't understand.......Thornton reclassified & counts in Duke's class, but Murray & Humphries don't count in UK's because they reclassified

It is because they are "international". I am sure that rule will change when K gets the next, great foreign player

I don't think they include international players in their rankings, which means the whole ranking system is flawed.

They went on and on about Duke having the #1 class, and I don't think they even MENTIONED that Murray wasn't included in the rankings. That's the real crime. Made ESPN look bad in the end though, because their #1 class got spanked.

It's kind of like saying "the Spurs' roster doesn't rate as high as (pick a team) because Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili (and Boris Diaw and a few other guys they have) don't get counted, since they're foreign players"

It's nonsensical. Ask Krzyzewski how much Jamal Murray doesn't count, and how much K would love to not count him as part of the Duke roster.

You would "probably" take skal over kennard? Gee... good assesment.

I MIGHT take kennard over Matthews or mulder, but I doubt it.
