Dook only favored by 2 at Ohio State tonight, 9:30 ET espn

Some figures

Offense Eff
Duke 94.2
OSU 101.4

Eff FG%
Duke 41.5%
OSU 55.6%

The difference basically right here. Duke shot the ball terrible in the second half. OSU hitting 40% from 3 didn't hurt their chances either.

Turnover %
Duke 10.0%
OSU 17.1%

OSU had 12 turnovers but I think 8 or 9 of them were in the first half. Honestly, Duke should have been up by like 20-25 by that point.

Offensive Rebounding%
Duke 21.4%
OSU 20.6%

A wash.

Free Throw Rate
Duke 24.6%
OSU 40.7%

OSU shot 6 more free throws than Duke which was surprising. Duke came into the game 1st in not fouling and putting teams on the line. This was pretty much the first time they got into some serious foul trouble the entire game. Of course OSU couldn't capitalize on making those free throws but again when guys like Williams picked up their 4th and had to go to the bench, OSU took full advantage of it.

Baylor is the best team in the country right now, wait and see.

Or Gonzaga. Or Duke. Or Purdue lol. Who knows lol.

Duke losing on the road in Columbus doesn't really change my perception of them just like Gonzaga losing to Duke didn't really change my perception of them.

Just thinking about last week. We had Gonzaga absolutely smashed UCLA. Then they turn around and look merely average vs Duke and lose. Then everyone thinks Duke is unstoppable and they lose to an OSU team that many thought were not good.

Baylor is going to lose at some point too. Ditto Purdue.

Tosu winning while getting zero from Meechie J , who was averaging 8 a game is surprising . I t was a weird game all the way around .

PS the Williams dude is growing into a force , dude can play and he's bigger than I recall from when we played them .

shocking…

Where's all the "Ohio St sucks" crowd now? Better hope we beat them in a couple weeks
Hopefully this year is different, but with the exception of that 2016 win over uNC (Monk went nuts), we always seem to play like crap in that 4 team event.
I believe that's when Cal starts his 'camp Cal' stuff and we seem to struggle during that time.
Hopefully with this teams makeup, we can avoid that.

I’ll say again it but Puke isn’t winning the ship…no guard play and no shooting.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but it seemed like duke got whistled for some things OSU didn’t. It looked like what UK endures in the SEC in road games. The refs are easily affected by these home crowds.
I certainly don't mind it, duke has evaded that for years, I've seen them get the benefit of the whistle in true road games for a long time, so it's surprising to see it happen in K's last year.

If you add all that together, carry the 1, divide by six, I get 'UCLA sucks' as the answer.

Duke won’t win it simply because they're too thin.
I bet they get to the E8, but they'll be playing a high level opponent 2 days after playing a very good opponent. Banchero will be cramping at tipoff.

Duke will win this one by a thousand.
Vegas is usually spot on with these spreads, but they missed on this one.
OSU is very bland and they don't do anything well. Liddel is really good, but Duke has guys his size and skill set in spades. OSU does not match up with duke at all, especially at the guard position. Keels is going to eat at will and who the heck is going to check Banchero when he isn’t cramping?

But, freaking Tarleton hung with Gonzaga until the end, so I guess it's possible.
@OmahaCats , I deserve the laughing emoji here, but in my defense, duke SHOULD have been up 20 at halftime. OSU was really bad in the first half. Duke lost that game, osu didn’t win it.

Yeah their starters play heavy minutes. They said Banchero loses 7 lbs of sweat per game. He gets those cramps late in a tight game in March and that could be all she wrote.

Yeah I was definitely surprised by that.

I don't know about such a good whistle. Dook plays so aggressively on D. If we played that way we would have half our team foul out in the first half. Now I do think it was more of a fair whistle which is something Dook is not used to. Well except where Palo clearly elbows the OHS player in the chin at the very end and only gets a regular foul when it was clearly a flagrant foul. At least by the rule and how it is written. I mean the refs didn't want to call that even know it was as clear as day because that would have most likely put a nail in Dook right there and then.

It was less about the refs and more about Dooks shooting and the fact they could only muster 23 pts in the second half.

Anyone else see last night when they talked about Palo's cramps? They brought in sports experts and figured out he sweats too much and is losing 7lbs. a game.

Palo by the end of the year: (Dook had to worry about Zion getting too fat, whereas Palo might sweat away to nothing.)

There ain’t no way he’s losing 7lbs by sweating alone.

You forgot how much striped help they usually get. That didn’t happen last night. And guess what? They lost.
Stripes or not this Puke team isn’t as talented as the Bagley or the Zion teams. No depth, no guard play and zero reliable shooters equals a L in March.

Hell Paolo can’t play a full game without cramping. Let that happen down the stretch in a tight game in March and see what happens to Pukes O.

Yep. If Vegas says that Duke is only 3 points better than Ohio St on Ohio St's court and you think it's closer to double digits, you might want to re-evaluate your thinking lol. You could be right. It happens where Vegas is way off but more than likely..........no lol
Not too many casinos going broke on sports betting. That’s for damn sure. For the most part all they want to do is get the money even so they win the juice on every game.

Nah. I mean I get why people would feel that things are fixed.

Honestly, I just think Vegas and other systems have a pretty good grasp on the teams true skill levels.

It will never be perfect. Which is great. I mean this is sports........if we knew who was going to win before the game was even played I'm not sure what the purpose would be. Having said that, they are good at what they do.

TBH, had OSU just made their free throws as bizzare as this would be, they would have won this by double digits lol
This game shows you have to have a guy who can score in the post. Tough defense and back to the basket post. As much as our fans want 3 point shooting, deliberate post scoring offense is hard to stop.

How did Vegas know this was gonna happen? Duke -2 was a lock to the bettor that just started, and it was obvious Ohio state was covering this spread. Even at half time.
So the game is controlled by refs.
