The part where you falsely equate location in the draft to how good that player was at 18 years old.
The draft is almost entirely about potential. Cal gets these kids anticipating that he should be able to have them ready to do serious damage in March, and it's been paying off, but that doesn't mean that they come in ready to dominate (as we've seen year after year with the majority of the freshmen taking time to adjust).
It also doesn't mean that another good coach with, say three five stars and a bunch of four stars (UCLA, Florida, Mich St, OSU, Texas, etc), who are much older on average, can't beat our bunch of five star freshmen (especially early in the season when our soph leader is hurt as well as our junior big, and it's at their place).
Much less other schools like Zona, UNC, Duke, Kansas, who are averaging nearly as many (or as many in Duke's case) five stars per roster as we are, except they're staying longer.

So slugger, what is it that you want exactly? Just curious. Do you want Cal to recruit second rate talent and have them hang around for a longer period of time, or do you want him going after the best? Do you expect that we win a championship every year like....like......which school is doing that again? Do you want Cal to value the team over the player to the point where he is holding a kid back from his dream, talking him into coming back, or not playing him because he's a freshman? Do you want a coach who has sex with skanks in restaurants? Do you want a coach who lets his players take classes that never meet and have 'professors' pass them to keep them on the court? Do you want a coach who quits mid season with 'illness' when things don't go his way? Do you want a coach who has a finger in his nose through half the game and cheats while hoping not to get caught? Do you want a coach who is so disillusioned that he cuts nets after a loss, kicks players off the team one after another, kisses grown men on the sidelines; and tweets secret dirty messages to his mistress then pretends it was intended for a recruit? How about support a program that pays for hookers and ho's for its players and recruits? Or support a program that hasn't been relevant for 25 years?
What is it that you want dude? WHAT IS IT THAT YOU WANT?
How about supporting a coach and program that values kids and their dreams over the program? How about supporting a coach who gives his blood, sweat, and tears 365 days a year to make dreams come true? How about supporting a coach who has done more for the under priveladged and needy than most? How about supporting a coach who makes it fun all year 'round? How about supporting a coach who can recruit the best every year, and get us to final fours more times than not?
That's what I'm doing.

We've been over this. Of course our NBA alum, on average are doing better than others - they have high long-term potential.

Well, solid job right there, my man - Booker is scoring 5.8 points a game this season, and over the last 10 when he's been gaining buzz, it's been 6.9 ppg, and he adds literally nothing else to the stat sheet - 1 rebound per game. And he's your second best example.
Yes, Karl (AFTER Cal worked with him for a couple months - remember, he was posting almost identical numbers to Skal through December) was NBA ready. Nobody from last year besides him is contributing any more than as a "do one thing well role player" yet.
They might not look like a top 10 team, but I think you would struggle to find 10 ahead of them. Nobody really looks that impressive.
He brought up Wisconsin in a thread about this season without being prompted but he's definitely over it.
Look I like Cal AND HATE BENEDICT...He is using the system to the best of his advantage, but he is NOT without his flaws when it comes to coaching...he is setting a high bar for rhe next guy here, but I want to see happen here what he talked about when he took the job...UK with 12 NC and in its rightful place over the cheaters at UCLA...And talk about FF's I am one who thinks his best team was 2010 and if only it had Jodie staying in that team

It wasn't. By any metric analysis available, it was third, at best. And yet it had by far the best draft class resulting from it. Which again, demonstrates my point that you continually fail to account for - the discrepancy between long term potential and short term production. Going by what they did later, '10 UK and '08 UCLA should've been maybe the top two CBB teams of all time. Needless to say, they were not.
Based on what players did later in both college and the NBA, '12 UConn should probably be top 5 as well -
That is the risk in this era of basketball - you don't always get them long enough to see them go deep into their potential.

I myself put 2010 and 2015 on him.
Regardless of his methods we win a lot. His system has brought us a title and reignited our image.

We will get up to 34-35% from behind the arc and look like a completely different team. Now that % isn't setting the world on fire but it'll be good enough for this team to be Top 5 in the nation and in line for a 1 seed come March.

Pft. People are stupid. We beat Duke's candy ass easily and lost to UCLA AT UCLA with Lee out and Ulis hurt. We did have a really bad game but UCLA was playing WAY above their heads. UCLA looked top 10 against us. They simply played above their heads. Plus we got screwed a couple times on a couple bad calls. Yeah those people are just dumb and hating on us because we're the big bad alpha dog. We're the evil empire and people freaking hate us LMAO. At the least Duke, and UNC have as much talent as we do going on HS production - they both have at least 6 five stars I know for sure, and I think Duke has more. Kansas is surely close to that, as well. Now, in terms of how good that talent could end up, though, I agree with you.

I do understand your point of view, slugger. I think all of us are in the camp of winning championships and the SEC, etc. That is Kentucky's history. Calipari has brought a new paradigm to UK. Someone has already posted it. Players first, getting them developed so that they are ready for the NBA and continue the winning tradition. For UK fans, especially older folks like me, we are more concerned about wins and fundamentally sound play. With Cal's system, UK loses so much each year, that it is harder to see fundamental bb and get to know the players. I choose to enjoy the guys who stay one, two, three or four years and realize that this is a new world, a new way of operating and it is really about educating and developing young guys into good to great players. As a teacher, I strive to do this every day. Things change, but championships still matter to those who will be here long after Calipari is gone
