Does Poy have another year?

He looks tired of it to me as well. I don't think he'll even want to play in the D-League.

Nobody thought he looked tired or uninterested in basketball after the Alabama game...
However, with that said, I somewhat tend to agree. He's quite the enigma...Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Poy

Poy seems like a really good guy so I wish him the best whatever happens. That said, I don't know what he could do next year that he can't do this year. He is healthy, has a team with a huge hole in the middle. He has the perfect opportunity to showcase his skills...if basketball is his dream. Like others I think he might play after college because he can and then move on to his "real" chosen profession. The UK site says "business marketing". Does that mean his is working on his MBA now? If so, I would think he is on a pretty good path.

I think his education is more important to him than basketball. He already put in the work to graduate in 3 years and is now working toward a Master's degree. Maybe he comes back just to get another year of free education and try to get his degree before worrying about going pro. That would be a nice fallback plan if basketball doesn't work out for him in the pros.

If Poy wants to do something other than b-ball after college then idk why he would not just stay one more season and have UK pay for his MBA as he finishes it up FOR FREE. That said, I think he will give professional basketball a chance.

Yea, my bad, thx for the help guys. If the tourneys only count as one game the he played in 8 of 33 games, which is 24%. So I guess its depending on whether the rule is 20 or 30 percent.

IMO, I think he does the 5th year transfer, just for draft stock, I just pray it isn't to Floyd St U. However, I could def see him transferring to somewhere like Memphis or Southern Miss for his 5th year, be a beast there and improve his draft stock. If Ryan Harrow can do it, Poy could. Best case scenario is that he figures it out this year, has a tear through the rest of the season like KAT did last year and get drafted in the first round.

I must be out of the loop on this, I haven't seen if he got a medical redshirt last year or not.
Because of the knee injury, Poythress played in only 8 games last year. If he chooses to, he can apply to the NCAA for another year of eligibility on that basis. The application would have to be submitted after this season, and it is uncertain what the NCAA would do about it. Who knows if Poythress wants another year? If he projects as an NBA draft choice when the season ends, he would probably try his hand at a pro career. I don't think Alex has more upside as a college player, and the competition at Kentucky next year will be greater than this year.

I for one would rather have A fifth-year Poythress than a freshman Bolden. Just sayin'
I'm not sure I understand your thinking. We all like Poythress, but his upside is maxed out now. He is what he is, a good role player who finishes pretty well at the basket. Poythress and Bolden play different positions. If Poythress were to apply and receive a 5th year, he would compete for playing time with Wynyard, Adebayo, Killeya-Jones, and possibly Lee. If he signs with us, Bolden would compete with Humphries and probably Labissiere.

I dont get this. He has every opportunity to be a beast this year. We played cupcakes early and he didnt beast out.

Not his game.

I for one would welcome Alex back. I also want Bolden though.

Alex always appears so much better as the complimentary player.

No idea how the scholly situation would work out. But Bam and a 30 year old Alex might be a tough PF combination with Bolden in the middle.
