Last year the reason UK didn't in the tournament was because of sub .500 conference record...think Fla gets the same treatment if the same situation comes to pass? I say they get in and you'll see some BS excuse.

I think they do if theyre .500 in conference play. It may take at least one win in the SEC tourney. They have UGA, UT and Mizzou left on their schedule.

You can be sub .500
13 wins and it’s 50/50
14 wins and you’re in
Last year I think A&M got in with 13 and Cats didn’t.

I hope not. They have a road series with UGA this weekend which will be tough, but then it eases up a bit with UT and Mizzourah

Tennessee and Missouri aren't slouches. Both have some of the better pitching staffs in the league and they have the same or better records than Florida.

OK guys, BUT wasn't the sole reason/excuse UK didnt get in last year was the fact we weren't .500 in conference? I distinctly remeber that they went down the list with the RPI(?) selected every team to UK, skipped them, and then took the rest of the teams and the committee chair said it was because we wern't .500 in conference. Just want your opinion if it happens to a school like Fla?

I believe they get in with 13 conference wins. The reason is, or will be, some lame excuse that they will come up with.

I imagine it is going to depend on how they finish. They are currently 9-12. They can get to .500 or better with their schedule. However, hypothetically, if they had a 13-17 record and lost in the first round of the tournament, then they probably won’t make the NCAA tournament. I think their RPI is already fairly low (30), and it wouldn’t get much higher with just 4 more SEC wins.

Do you remember what UK'S was last year getting passed over? Remember a big stink raised over it nationally

I tried to look it up, but couldn't find a way to switch between years. I remember it was something like every team in the top 40 was picked except for UK.

UK was 31st in RPI last year. Florida is 30th. UK was 13-17 in conference play last year. Florida is 9-12. I think if Florida finishes 14-16 and win at least one in Hoover, they’re in. If they drop to 13-17 and lose in the first round, the road is a little murkier.

I think Florida likely wins more than 13 games. Regardless, good wins are pretty few and far between for Florida. Last year, UK had something like 15 wins against teams that made the NCAA tournament, and at least 5 against 1 seeds. I think, as of right now, I would say that Florida has about 8 wins against teams that will make the tournament and 3 of those are against Florida State during the midweek. They are 6-12 against the RPI top 50, with 2 of those wins coming against UK. Basically, they are dominating the ACC (Miami and FSU) and taking care of business against the weaker SEC teams (USC, UK, and Bama). Still, their quality wins, IMO, are not all that amazing and there aren’t a ton of them.
