Obviously, he isn't going to stay on this clip all season, but I can't see him falling off significantly either. My guess is he will end up in the 50-55 percent range. Anyone know what the record is?

I can see him finishing in the upper 50s maybe even 60s unless he starts forcing contested shots as we get into league play. He isn’t gonna miss very many open rhythm threes
Looks like Micah Mason from Duquesne holds the mark from 2014 at 56.03%

The only concern I have is when competition gets better, we’ll need him to keep shooting. Him shooting 6-8 a game making 50% is better for the team down the stretch than him shooting 2-4 a game at 55%.
I can see him shooting 50+% this year for sure.
He couldn’t make a shot in the preseason so I expect he could go through a cold spell at some point. Even great shooters are prone to that occurring. I can absolutely see him finishing the year, as others have said, above 50%.
One of the things I love is this offense generates open 3s and him being a 5th year senior so no conditioning issues or “hitting a wall” like lots of underclassmen we’ve had at Kentucky
Also, at his current pace, he's on track to completely obliterate Jodie Meeks 3 point shots made in a season mark.

But Brea has the advantages of a higher percentage through the games we can compare, and better teammates. That gives Brea more high-percentage opportunities.
Since Brea shot 50% from deep against Duke *and Duke’s game plan was to run our guys off the perimeter with big, long, talented, mobile guys* I’m not sold on Brea’s waveform necessarily collapsing much when we get into the SEC schedule. To eat into his average, even a worldbeating opponent will not merely have to shut Kobe down. They will have to bait him into taking a lot of shots that he misses. Maybe easier said than done against this fifth year senior.

Brea's #s can go down and we'll be fine so long as the rest of the team makes shots. We're at 42% as a team, and Kriisa isn't even hitting. He's still sub 30% right now from three.

This team would have to have an epically poor shooting night in the first weekend to be sent home early. There's just too many good weapons, and unlike last year, we have at least three elite defenders (Oweh, Butler, Williams) and three more who are above average (Robinson, Carr, and Garrison).
This team should be in at least the Sweet Sixteen when it's all said and done.

Would you change your mind if I told you he shot 50% from 3pt last year on 6.1 attempts per game. So far, this year he is actually taking less per game at 5.4?
I’ve never seen anyone do it twice so it’s a big ask. We shall see. I’m definitely hoping for it

Butler has decent form too, I think he can shoot a good percentage if he takes good shots.
Exactly. People gotta remember SDSU played at an absolute snails pace and their offense was NOT designed in a way that increases your shooting efficiency. That Keshad Johnson kid left there and the next year had insane numbers. I’m never upset with Butler pulling an open 3.
The fact that he didn’t even get up enough attempts to be a season qualifier in 3pt shooting will probably never not be enraging when I think about it.
He definitely did not shoot enough during the SEC and NCAA tournament. Reeves and Dillingham both shot over 44% too, for the season. Dilly was a volume-shooter and mostly played together with Reed on the floor … only one ball.
I suppose that if Reed would have been good enough to earn the starting nod over Dujon, he could have gotten a few more attempts. 👀 🤮
Very good point. He would’ve definitely shot more threes, with the increased minutes, assuming starting provided more time on the floor … no question about it. Similarly, would Brea be getting more minutes and shooting more threes, if he were starting ?? I certainly don’t know, but it’s interesting to note that Brea has essentially been a non-starter his whole career.

He was a great get. My hope is pope will prioritize shooters out of the portal over shooters out of high school.
