Do you think we are totally done with this class?

It seems unlikely Murray will reclassify and Thon Maker seems unlikely.I remember hearing about some greek kid and a high school kid from Charlotte.Anyone know if we are still recruiting them?

If Murray doesn't reclassify were finished adding players of any significant magnitude. I don't count Maker as he isn't as impressive as his potential suggested he would be.

As PJW said, we are most likely finished with players of significance. Latest news from Biancardi is that Murray is expected to stay in the '16 class.

Personally, I'm not real big on our roster next season, but we have to ride with them at this point. Hope for the best.

May add a big man for the bench, but I have no clue who that could be. Grad transfer, JUCO, international. Just has to be a serviceable blue collar sub that fills in in a pinch, because at this point no one left out there is going to start over Poythress, Labissiere or Lee.

Was really hoping things would work with Murray, but doesn't sound promising. Think we roll with Matthews and Mulder at the 3 and back-up 2 guard spots.

I think we are done and have been for some time. Just as Cal was surprised by the returnees last year, I think he was as surprised by the exodus this year and well that is just how it goes but I do think he will make it work out. Sure they are going to be some bumps but just hang in there till the end and see what happens.

He's not done. Will likely add two more

Not much left at the high school level.Tevin Mack a 6'6 forward is out there but that's it.Maybe Cal could get a graduate player or two to fill out the roster with for a season. They could provide some depth.I think we are fine in the backcourt but the frontcourt is weak as we really only have Skal,Poy and Lee...Is Alex even going to be ready for the start of the season or are we looking at him coming back right at SEC play?

I do. Last year's roster was the exception and not the rule. Cal also knows that the '16 class is absolutely loaded. UK probably won't be destroying people like they did this year, but they will be a very good team IMO. Guard play is critical and I think UK will be very, very good in that area.

If Murray and Maker are out of the equation, there's no one else out there who will make an impact (by that I mean make the 7-man rotation).

If we sign another player other than those two or a surprise big name that drops in our lap, they will be practice players or spot minute guys unless there is a significant injury.

Murray or Maker automatically move into the starting lineup if they come, IMHO. Either one becomes the fifth starter if they come.

I think UK is done too as far as any big ripples in the recruiting war goes. However, Cal has known for some time he was going to lose this many. He said himself as early as Feb the past couple of seasons UK only lost 2-3 guys, that won't be the case this year losing likely 7 guys. He tried to prep the fans and they didn't listen. I don't think he intended to strike out on the remaining top recruits though

Should still be a top 20 team hopefully.

I don't get the doom and gloom within the fanbase. Every updated preseason top 25 list that I have seen has us top 5. A couple have us #1. There aren't going to be any superteams next year due to key players declaring for the draft and the way the freshman class spread itself out, so our roster as it stands is still one of the best in the country.

^this. Thank you. I do think we will have advantages some of the other teams have not - mostly that the guys who returned practiced against some of the best players of the last few years.

Murray might be the only one Cal would gleefully add at this point. It appears the remaining players out there would simply stunt the rotation next year. Cal already has Mulder/Matthews/Hawkins (presumably) next year for player retention at the guard/wing positions. I'm not adding another role player would actually be beneficial at this point, not when you're trying to sell instant opportunity to the next group of elite prospects.

Cal should have taken Thomas Bryant.
Agree, it is difficult to see where any other impact players will come from,if the big kid from UF(Dickerson) wants out maybe we talk to him.We need one more big and they aren't growing on trees this time of year.

Either way, I am ready for the season to begin. I think Cal will find a way to make things happen because his track record here suggest just that. Only wish for me is, we had a trip this year like the Bahama's last year, that would really help a lot. This year will really show (even though he was voted COY) the haters that he can coach and it is not just talent alone.

No UK fan you knows B-ball would ever say that with a straight face. Even the most doom and gloomer can see this is a top 10 team at very worst. IN every preseason we are either 1 or 2 . I think we will start at 2 behind UNC.

And no way are we done . we will add someone . who ? i have no idea.

ZERO chance Florida would ever release any of their recruits to another SEC school and no chance in hell they would let them leave for UK. Just no way.

I thought that rule was changed but I could be wrong (and often am).

As for the Florida recruits, there was an article yesterday stating that at least 3 (including Dickerson) had decided to stay with FL, at least until they saw who the new coach is going to be.

I'm not sold that Maker would even start. Maybe. He would probably expect to.

I could be wrong but releasing from a LOI is different than releasing a transfer.I don't think released LOI can be restricted, they can however refuse to release them, but that rarely happens with coaching changes.

Anybody know where we can find a 6'7 athletic player that can score? I hear VCU just released one. We're on the market for one.

Perhaps I am wrong but, I don't think we offered Maker. At least not according to the Rivals recruiting site. Not Updated?

We were preseason #3 in 2013 and ended up in the NIT.

Our roster has a similar make up to that year. A 5 star PG, #1 center, and a Juco transfer SG. We have a roster of players that will struggle to score.

What's the opposite of cherry picking? Because that's what you're doing.

In 2013, Harrow had a meltdown of some sort, Mays was slow as Christmas, and we were still on an uptick before Noel got injured.

Our roster next year is clearly stronger than it was in 2013. Why would you paint a doom and gloom worst case scenario?

The 4 star pg didn't pan out, we have proof of what Ulis can do. The #1 center was VERY raw offensively , Skal is VERY skilled offensively. Juco transfer sg??? I assume you mean Julius Mays, he wasn't a juco ,he was very un athletic and really didn't belong in major college, that's very different than Mulder. Poythress is a senior,Lee is a junior,Ulis is a sophomore, all with final four experience.Another big issue is basketball iq, which that team sorely lacked that this team won't, Ulis quite possibly may have the highest basketball iq in the nation and he's the primary ball handler.Comparing 2013 to this team is a lazy comparison.

Wright State is basically the same thing as Juco.

Which 4 star PG are you referring to? Ryan Harrow was a 5 star.

2013's team had a returning Kyle Wiltjer with National Title game experience.

Nobody knows what Mulder can do against high level D1 American competition.

Ulis lack of size will hurt him this year.

Comparing this year's roster to 2013 is completely fair.

Wright State isn't a juco, depends which ranking service you look at for Ryan,Wiltjer is one player who had final four experience, Poythress, Lee, and Ulis is three, Ulis size won't hurt this year. There isn't a selfish player like Goodwin on this squad and we already know chemistry exist between the returning players. Also a returning Wiltjer wasn't a take charge returning player ,he was Laid back, the softest player on the court.Ulis,on the other hand, is a pure leader ,the toughest player on the court. The comparison is lazy.

LOL! Of course Maker has been offered. He is a far better player than people would know from only watching him in 1 ASG.
