I am watching football and Florida state and auburn were both struggling at the half in their noon games. It reminded me of buffalo last season when our team was down by five at the half. However buffalo did turn out to be decent last season. Old Dominian if you remember gave our champions a game too.

Anyway I noticed that sometimes teams tend to struggle to lesser teams in early day games more often than night games. I prefer to play at night or at least 4:00 or later since I think favorites, and UK is normally the favorite, tend to play better. What do you all think?

Did you mean in basketball?

I have never cared for the noon games and I bet the players don't like them either.

Never been a fan of noon games, although gives me an excuse to drink a few beers a little earlier than normal.

As a person who has worked as an SID for 11 years now, I wish all weekend games in all sports could start at noon, 2 pm start at the latest. Just get the games out of the way so I can watch the primetime games from the comfort of my couch or give me the option for some nightlife if I want it. Worst is when it's a night game, you can't really go out and do anything the entire day before the game unless its local, by the time you're done with everything after the game, it's too late to do anything other than stay in unless you're a real night hawk.

I mean for the night games I would normally go to hooters or another sports bar and watch the game. After the game if they won I go out clubbing. So I guess I'm just a real night hawk lol.

Apparently you don't know what work is. Going to Hooters and clubbing ≠ working unless you're a prostitute or a drug dealer.

I'm confused. I thought you meant that unless you are simply someone that stays up really late you aren't going to like night games if you plan on going out on the town that night.

He's an SID, which stands for Sports Information (?) Director. He's saying he wishes all his games started early so he could have an evening life or watch late games. His duties probably have him working until 6-8 PM for a noon game anyway, so if he works a primetime game he's never going to have a night life. That's how I'm understanding it.

Oh true, true. I have been fortunate to have a job that doesn't make me work weekends or nights. However being a SID would be really cool

Hate noon game, I am in Okinawa, Japan, and the 14 hour time difference is a beast to get up in the middle of the night/very early morning to watch. But I usually find a way.

You and I are in the same boat. When i ran the basketball arena at a D1 school, I hated late games. Get there a few hours before the game and stay a couple hours after. I wanted to get home before midnight, so noon games were my favorite.

Now that I live on the west coast, I love a noon game. I get up early anyways, so I have the rest of the day when the game ends at about 11:00am.

I generally don't mind the noon games. I'm usually anxious and on edge until Kentucky plays (wins). After they do I can relax and enjoy the win and go on to other things.

I prefer evening games in both Football and Basketball. Just a more fun and exciting atmosphere all around.

Well it wouldn't be quite that late if we had noon start times unless we had a really long game. The games are only 3ish hours since we don't have media timeouts every 2 minutes like in D1 and the pros. Our home games start at 1 pm, I'm at school no later than 10 am, once I have EVERYTHING wrapped up for the game (which includes writing the recap), it's anywhere between 5-6 pm. And that's assuming I have no other sports playing that day. Even after that sometimes I'm not really down for doing anything else if it has been a particularly stressful day due to shit not working right. But at least I have the option of doing something if it's a fairly stress free gameday.

If it were a 7 pm game, I'm looking at past midnight at the earliest before I'm done. We do have soccer, lacrosse, basketball, etc. with 7 pm start times. I'm normally out at the field/court at 5 pm at the latest, if the game goes about 1.75-2 hours like usual, I'm done for the night by around 11 pm if I don't have recaps to write up for any other sport. At that point, around here the only thing open is a shitty college bar (and I don't drink to begin with), Buffalo Wild Wings, chain restaurants, and Walmart. But then I'd still need to shower and make myself look presentable for public appearance haha.

I'm just glad I don't have to deal with ESPN telling us what our start times are and then ending up with games starting at like 8, 9, or later.

The best part of a noon game is that there isn't a 10 o'clock Crappy game that you are praying will hurry up and end so that the Cats aren't delayed or the dreaded "UK game is being shown on ESPN News while we watch another time out and 14 more free throws in this game"

I prefer night games. Dinner then a few oat soda's, maybe a little Woodford Reserve, sit back and root them CATS on to victory. The night cap to a long day.

Hate them and to my recollection we haven't particularly played well even if we usually win. Seems less an issue with Calipari but I kinda hate them. No games before 1pm, I sez.
