We could have Steve Spurrier in his prime as OC and he would struggle under Stoops's philosophy of milking the clock every dang play.We had what, 8 yards is the second quarter? Call me heart broken if he leaves.
While Stoops does need to own some of the offensive issues.....but seems like fans on this board see no wrong in Coen. This is his offense this year and it's been a mess. So he needs to own a bit does he not?We could have Steve Spurrier in his prime as OC and he would struggle under Stoops's philosophy of milking the clock every dang play.
He's getting out play called by a Missouri OC. Just think about that. But of course our fans lack iq of sports. Think he's good. While Stoops does need to own some of the offensive issues.....but seems like fans on this board see no wrong in Coen. This is his offense this year and it's been a mess. You may be right. Our offense two years ago was pretty much run CRod, throw short to Wandale or run Levis. That wasn't complicated. While Stoops does need to own some of the offensive issues.....but seems like fans on this board see no wrong in Coen. This is his offense this year and it's been a mess. Enjoy him guys. He won’t be here long. Those first two drivers were poetry in motion.
I think a lot of us give him the benefit of the doubt because we have a history of coordinators who previously played a high flying style suddenly start doing the exact same slow paced grind it out stuff as their predecessors under Stoops, so at least from our outside perspective, there seems to be a common denominator there. I wouldn’t go so far as to say Coen is blameless though. He does have to own what seems to be a general lack of improvement from a lot of our highly recruited players on the offensive side. While Stoops does need to own some of the offensive issues.....but seems like fans on this board see no wrong in Coen. It's more about tempo helps simplify the defense for the qb and we ask transfers to learn pro language and calls and reads etc. in 2 months before the season starts1. Coen has had a bad year....no argument from me.
2. But what is the big boner so many have with running hurry up stuff? NFL teams typically huddle, run the play clock down for adjustments. As long as we execute (which we didn't today).....I don't care how fast we play...just score the ball when you get it.
I'm not goign to act like Stoops is innocent but...I think a lot of us give him the benefit of the doubt because we have a history of coordinators who previously played a high flying style suddenly start during the exact same slow paced grind it out stuff as their predecessors under Stoops, so at least from our outside perspective, there seems to be a common denominator there.
