A lot of you guys are wrong about one aspect of Barnhart

I see so much fussing about Barnhart’s investment in small niche sports. What you have to realize is that it’s the country club kids that are involved in those sports. The kids playing golf or tennis, the kids fencing or shooting rifle, those are the kids that come out of wealthy backgrounds. Those are the kids that are going to be the future big donors. One golf athlete or one dance athlete that goes on to become a pharmacist, a doctor, a bank CEO, or that marries into a family with even more bookoo bucks, that’s where the money for the future NIL deals, for facilities, for marketing is going to come from. Mitch is smart by propping up those programs…that’s where many of the connections and loyalties for future millionaires, possibly even a billionaire or two, will be made.

I get being pissed at Mitch for the bad basketball and football contracts that he’s gotten UK into; you really shouldn’t be that upset that he cares about niche sports that don’t cost that much vs future returns.

i doubt anyone on this forum cares what he spends his time on, as long as he does a good job with both basketball programs and football. the problem is that he hasn't learned his lesson on how to do good contracting. BYU buyout was asinine on pope, as was the auto extension.

Rule number one of hiring: never hire someone who you aren't prepared and capable of firing.

I’ve never been one to complain about the investment made across the athletic department. But….players tend to donate to their respective sports they played for. If the tennis kid becomes rich his money is going to tennis…not basketball or football

I never thought about it that way. I have some thinking to do about this. I’m one of the ones that fuss about the “nothing” sports getting a focus

If that’s true it isn’t working. Barnhart is a terrible fund raiser. Stoops almost had to abandon the team to fund raise for players. Barnhart has the Crafts. That’s about it. Danny White at Tennessee is selling live baby’s on Craigslist. Ours hides under his desk.
