For being so emotionally-invested in our football program? I ‘ve been reading how divided our fanbase is and it’s passionate on either side of Stoops. It’s a civil war over him. I come into each season with a renewed energy to cheer for our team. I miss a couple of beautiful fall saturdays sitting inside watching the games only to end up mad. I get mad at the team. I get mad at the last 3:00 minutes of close games. Mad at the refs. Mad that I’ve wasted a precious waning warm weather day off. I want better for this program, but I think I want it for them more than they want it themselves!

Any quality therapist would tell me “look inwards” for the source of the problem. I’ve GOT to let this program stop doing this to me. It isn’t healthy! The cracks are showing in ALL of us!

Sigh. Rant over. Back to work.

You know what's hard for me? I've been a fan for 30+ years so I'm in it. I've been here during a lot of bad stuff and hung in there. I know what I signed up for. My 8 year old son however, he really started getting into it last year. Die hard. I hope we give him some good stuff to cheer for. He had an amazing time last year. I keep telling him how it was when I was younger and how we are so much better now than we were then. I hope he hangs in there with me!

Mad? No. I get upset during the games sometimes but never regret watching them. You can't have the highs without the lows. CFB has become my favorite spectator sport; the wife and I look forward to these fall Saturdays. I dropped the NFL a few years back so my leaf watching gets done on Sunday.

One things for sure; if he hangs in there like the rest of us he’ll become one tough SOB!

If Saturday didn't toughen him up nothing will. Took him to his first ever game at Commonwealth (no I still don't call it Kroger). Sat through the most miserable possible weather and watched us lose to Vanderbilt. He grew up real fast on Saturday, lol

Yes, all the time. My rationale is that I enjoy every win SO MUCH that it makes some losses worth it. I did think we were past the stage of losing to vandy who hadn't won an SEC game in 26 tries. So, hopefully this is a blip on the radar screen, if not I may have to reassess.

It used to, but I don't have the intensity I once did. Losing in such a god awful manner and tanking the season like we did Saturday used to just kill me. But now, I am like "that is Mark Stoops and Mitch Barnhart's problem, I have my own to worry about"

To be completely honest, I am thinking of taking 2023 season off, sort of need a break from planning every Saturday around UK football, next season is not looking all that great at the moment anyway, may just DVR most games and play more golf and bike ride next fall and see how much I miss it.

More like scarred him for life. I remember my first foray to watch UK get beat in the most improbable way ever.

Now, I just expect it.

I root for the team, and I want them to do well for themselves. I feel bad for them, not myself, when they lose or don't play up to their ability. The same goes for basketball.

Being a Raiders and Kentucky football fan for 40+ years...I stopped getting mad years ago. Stopped having any sort of expectations, that really helped. Until this year, had expectations for both, hate football at this point in time.

Cant have the highs without the lows . . . so true. I hate it for the fans but for the players and coaches too. There's been a lot of work put in to climb the ladder of respect and its a gut punch to have to drop back and reclimb those rungs all over again. But some of that is self inflicted so got to get better. But no question it sure helps to fill a fall when we're in the conversation of things cause there's nothing better than college football to look forward to.

Honestly, after the loss to Wisconsin in basketball back in 2015 , I vowed to never get that emotionally invested in sports again. And for the most part I haven’t. Sometimes I wonder if Calipari made that same vow .

An old friend, now gone, taught me the 30 minute rule.

It does not effect me passed a few minutes after the game.

I love college football, but it is hardly truly meaningful in life.
You sir, clearly don't Roll with The Tide or dwell on Rocky Top. I could go on.

I feel sorry for the players when the effort is there but Saturday and a few other games this year there was minimal effort. They basically quit and there is NEVER an excuse for quitting. Especially when the fans buy in and support the team like the BBN has done for these guys.

Same here my friend, same here. The 2015 season broke me. And honestly, I think I'm actually better for it. Still love UK, but it's not like it used to be. It's just sports now, where before it was religion.

It's interesting that one heartbreaking loss (the 92 Duke game) began my obsession for UK sports, and another heartbreaking loss ended it.

I get mad yes. I don’t break things or anything but losing bums me out. I’m competitive I’m usually back to myself by the end of the day but it does bum me out. But I know that this is just ball. It’s just entertainment. I choose to become invested in it because it’s innocent fun.

What I can’t imagine is walking around with politics on my mind all day. I’ve always said that a lot of folks make politics their sports. Knowing how passionate I can be about meaningless sports, I find it scary that so many people match that passion with politics. It’s why we live in such a hateful world.

I agree with the politics and I blame the media. You don't get news anymore, you get polarizing narratives from both sides. I turned it all off and I'm much better off for it.

I used to get mad. So mad it would last for 2-3 days. Then I got numb from being so mad. Then I realized how stupid that was, and I watch it for entertainment, and if I'm not entertained I turn it off and watch something else. The remote is your friend.

Of all people, my mother said it best 30 years ago when I was waxing apoplectic over yet another turd banquet served up by Bill Curry.

She told me in so many words "If your business has a bad month or a bad year, or fails, Bill Curry isn't going to lose a minute's sleep over it, so why should you take it so seriously if the football teams lays an egg?" Over the years, I finally realized she was right.

You better believe I turned off the game Saturday. I'm not getting my blood pressure up over it.
