SIMMONS WITH 36...vandy did not have a soul that could guard him and LSU has not put 2 games back to back all year.

I'd have been more worried had LSU lost tonight.
Regardless - they'll play like the best team on the planet Tuesday. We have to match their effort and intensity; if we can do that we should walk out with a W

Lsu at home will bring a massive crowd, tee shirt night I'm sure, & that place will be filled to the max. I hope our guys are ready for what they are walking in to cause that'll be the scene every road sec game. Gotta keep getting points from bigs however they come, helps take pressure off Murray & Ulis on perimeter.

Can't wait to watch Poy seat Simmons shot and smal it back at him on his high flying attempts. Simmons will run into a man on Tuesday night.

When I was younger I used to really look forward to the LSU game. They were decent for a good bit of the 80s and 90s. Talented at least.

This is the biggest game of the season. It's a game to set where UK is at and a must game for this young team. I am worried about this game, they have the best player in the country and he's at home.

We have to turn them over and rebound or lights out. If we hit shoots turn them over we win going away.

Cats 76-68

I guarantee you that Cal and his staff are worried about Simmons and LSU and with good reason. Simmons is for real and they will be hyped up. Gonna be a battle.

LSU is not a good team period. But that doesn't mean don't have talent.
Yes, that is what should worry UK. That pretty well describes both teams our Cats have lost to this season, especially Ohio St. A talented team that hasn't been playing well only needs to make some shots and take a lead in front of the home crowd to get their confidence up.

The other side of this is that a team that hasn't played well, if you come out and punch them in the mouth, may very well wilt under the pressure and have that "here we go again!" kind of mentality.

So, if you jump on them early, take the crowd out of it, and play with the kind of D we played with today, it could become a relatively easy win.

Now, in regard to Ben Simmons, he's beast for sure, but we have several guys who can at least slow him down. He's like Moody in a sense. He's probably gonna get his but the rest of the team can be held in check. He may score 30 but they could lose 80-60. That wouldn't surprise me.

And Vandy without Luke Kornet is an entirely different team, even at home.

Well I am worried. They almost beat us last year, and they have the best player in the country. Gonna be very hard for us to win without bringing our A game and making very few mistakes.

If LSU has any designs on still making the tourney this year they'll be playing desperate; trying to use us to punch their ticket to the dance.

They are way different now then early. They have two more players back then they did before. Our hope is that Coach Jones does his best impression of being a lousy coach.

Kornett is good but is he truly a difference maker? The Jones kid should be a lot better than he is and if vandy isnt making 3s they are :flush::flush:

I sincerely hope you are right he was getting lots of foul calls tonite and laughing and joking with the refs I am sure they know they may be calling games for the next NBA star just hope Poythress and company does not get called for to many fouls

to be fair, Ole Miss almost beat us last year, too [winking]

But get what you're saying. If Cats play defense as they did first half last night, combined with the fact that J Jones doesn't seem to be able to coach a lick gives us a solid shot. FWIW I'm worried about this game as well. Not sure if we can contain Simmons - he's pretty amazing - but if we pretty well shut down everyone else, and shoot the ball moderately well, we should be ok.

Too many ifs, though - just my opinion.

Simmons is the best. Ulis is an AA imo.
we should not lose to a team with one of the worst coaches in the country and one dimensional with Simmons basically having to do everything. Simmons hasn't seen the defense he'll see from us.

That doesn't describe us at all. We played bad against OSU but when healthy we have been a top 5 team all year. LSU hasn't been a top 40 team and Vandy was missing their 3rd best player. I think it will be a war due to talent but in the end coaching wins out . UK 83 LSU 75

The key to LSU is getting Hornsby & Victor back. Huge difference with those two

I agree, Simmons/LSU hasn't seen a defense that can be put in the same conversation with UK but my worry is our guys playing on the road. Our guys need to show up for this one, if not we will get beat down. LSU has really good talent, I'm stunned at their record.

LSU doesn't start classes until the 13th, so the students won't even be on campus. Stubhub has tons of tickets on sale...many as low as $14. Tough road game in a hostile environment, but it may not be as bad as it could be if the students were back for classes.

LSU isn't one-dimensional. Hornsby was killing us last year when their coach inexplicably over the last 5 minutes didn't call his number again.

I honestly think we win big if they look anything like the did last night. Vandy played terrible defense and had tons of sloppy turnovers. But LSU also plays no D so vandy stayed in it the whole time. We should win by 15 or so.

Have a feeling Hornsby will look like Pete Maravich.:grimace:

Lsu needs to beat two teams to make their season - vandy and UK. I'm glad we get to play them twice in case things don't go well. Can't believe they won @ Vandy.

Didn't LSU just get Hornsby back from an injury? Surely that helps them tremendously. It will be their biggest crowd of the year despite the students not being back on campus. Big TV game, they will be loud and obnoxious, a lot like the UCLA game. I hope our guys learned from that experience. Hornsby or somebody will all of a sudden be able to hit everything he throws up from everywhere on the court and with guys all up in his face. We will have to counter that and Simmons somehow. Guessing Poythress gets the task of trying to stop Simmons?

Jonny Jones could guide the dream team to a third place finish in the NCAA !!

It's going be tough, but if we come out with the focus we did last night I like out chances. We need to come out hot and shut the crowd up early. Simmons will get his, we just need to keep their 3s in check.
