I've attended two games at DKR, both vs ranked Okie St teams. While the stands were packed, it didn't seem like the atmosphere was all that loud. I've been in several SEC stadiums that I felt were much louder. I'd be interested to hear about the experience from those who attend today's game in comparison to other stadiums.

BTW, lots of eye candy to enjoy if you happen to like good looking coeds in sun dresses, cowgirl boots and hats. With 50+k students, law of averages say there will be a lot of good looking ones. There are.

Outside both schools being huge, the differences between TX & A&M couldn't be bigger. One a city, lib-oriented hemmed in by the city & the other with what I think is the largest campus in the country almost in the middle of nowhere that is quite conservative.

Yep. I lived in SWLa for eight years back in the 90s, worked with engineers from both schools but more so from A&M. I’ve been on the A&M campus two different times.

I can attest their cultures are very different and they really don’t like each other.

Safe travels and welcome to BBN!
This matchup has been a long time coming.

Had a co-worker go to the UF beatdown a couple of weeks ago and that was her comment too.

No home team in a day game against a team with a losing record will have a raucous crowd. DKR get plenty loud for big games. Same at Texas A&M. Not real crazy unless it's a big game. I've been to LSU games during the day and they are no different than the day games at DKR.

I went to the LSU vs UF game this year. It is the first time I had been there in about 30 years. It was an electric atmosphere. It was extremely loud and the fans didn't let up, not even one play. Just from the sound on TV, it sounded the DKR atmosphere was nothing like the UF atmosphere.

On TV it sounds like the UK fans bring it during a big game that is not a blowout. I haven't been to Kroger field for a big game, so don't know what it is like.

The Stevie Got Loose game was exceptionally loud

Tiger stadium at night gets rocking, but like another poster said, playing a crappy team in a day game just doesn’t draw and drive the fans crazy like a night game against a ranked opponent. The fans expect a blowout and an early departure to celebrate the victory.

Their game day atmosphere beat the hell out of ours. I thought it was great.

I didn't see them introduce the tiddlywinks intramural team or teacher of the month during a TV timeout. So theirs is clearly better on that fact alone.

I went to the game at DKR last saturday. It's a great atmosphere. Not the rowdiest, but lots of pageantry with a great band and fan interaction. Also, no offense to us, but this wasn't exactly a "big game" for them.

With that Said, there were a ton of UK fans there. Huge turnout for a bad team. I really enjoyed my trip there.

I was at the game on Saturday with my two sons. We went early and watched the TX band and Bevo arrive. Talked to some band members, and guys handling Bevo. They were respectful with a lot of sirs and quick to answer questions. Maybe it's my gray hair. Then I walked up to the LBJ Library lawn and had a great time listening to CW music and the Josh Abbot band for about an hour. Large pavilion for Tito vodka. Again, the people were exceptionally nice. A group of very pretty young girls in big white hats stopped to talk about Big Hat liquors, told me where to buy their products in the stadium and were just chummy.

We got our seats through UK ticket office and we were in section 1. I suppose it's expected that visitor seating is lousy and that was true. I could see the field and there were no obstructions but the distance from the field was tremendous and my eyesight is not bad and I couldn't make out numbers and who had the ball etc. There was huge jumbotron close by and most people just watched the game on the big TV in the endzone. I didn't find the crowd to be exceptionally loud. They did all the third down graphics and I found it somewhat disconcerting that on UT punts and Kick offs the very loud canon would fire just as the ball got close to the UK receiver.

We talked to a lot of the UT fans around us and all were curious about UK as it was the first time we played there since 1951. There were numerous questions about Boley when he took the field. I found the officiating horrible but mostly in favor of UK. Several clear holding and PI calls were just missed, most of them were favoring UK. I didn't notice much alcohol consumption at the game and the crowd was generally mellow and filed out in an orderly fashion after the game.

Austin is a fun place and we had a great time at several of the music venues on or around 6th street. Our hotel was full of UK fans and the bars and restaurants featured UK flags and fan greetings.

A lot of ppl in this thread completely missing that the OP said his “not that loud/doesnt feelSEC compared to most SEC venues” comment is based off 2 games against ranked Oklahoma State teams aka “Big Games”…..not based on the UK game
