Not sure about anyone else, but the non-stop Flagg slob fest last night and today is a complete joke. ESPN had no idea what to do when we came back and won. They had already written their articles. Front page of ESPN was a picture of Flagg. Bilas all night riding Duke's jock - he shouldn't be allowed to do the color on their games. Jay Williams, the same. Zero mention of any of our guys, just "Flagg's 26 not enough." Wears me out.

I thought the kid for 17 was good, but if he is the number one pick the draft must be really weak.

It was a serious coping mechanism on their part. They have just 6 ranked games right now.. and they just lost one of them. I'm sure they will be a top10 team at the end of the year, but their SOS and Quad wins will be the difference between that final 1-seed or the best 3-seed.

The ESPN Gods hath decided the best way to get ratings is to promote Cooper Flagg as must see TV. And so it shall be.

It probably goes back to some guy with a VP or Director in his email signature, who has decided this is how it must be. And so it shall, for that man is all-knowing.

Amen.

The hype is annoying just like it was with Zion but also just like Zion, I feel like it's pretty obvious that he's got some special skills. Whether he stays healthy and that translates to a HOF career, who knows? But I can see why he's anticipated to go number 1, for sure.

I do agree. I came away from that game thinking Flagg was the real deal. He almost willed that team to a win, almost entirely by himself in the 2nd half. He's the #1 pick in my eyes. The game just comes so nicely to someone who is that young, and he made some hard contested jumpers in that game.

Eh, he's good. It was his first big college game. We wore him down a bit, and the pressure got to him. But he had a freaking double-double for goodness sakes. 26 points and 12 rebounds against an experienced team. That's nothing to sneeze at.

Sure the slobber fest is too much. But to act like the dude is trash is disingenuous.

This is the way!

ESPN has been an ACC / BIG East back in the day love fest. They do not like the SEC and probably hate having SEC on their network. Heck I would rather have SEC on CBS/FOX than ESPN but what can you do. I typically turn the channel at half and do not even watch what those idiots have to say.

UK could have picks 1-10 of the upcoming draft (next year), beat every team by 50pts, beat a few NBA teams (scrimmages) and ESPN would still rather cover DUKE / UCONN / UNC / Kansas and so forth. Do not even care anymore.

Who cares? I don't know why anyone pays attention to anything ESPN says or the announcers say during the games. Turn off the sound during the games, change the channel at halftime, never watch Sportscenter and don't go to the ESPN website. I don't do any of those things.

Duke will be a 1 seed. They're gonna run the ACC and unless they completely collapse, no one is stopping them much. They'll lose a couple of games, but they'll be a 1 seed unless the committee can't hide the bias of a bad season.

Probably right, honestly. But they do have little margin for error. For example, they have to sweep UNC IMO, if they want a 1-seed. No oen else in the ACC is going to help their metrics on their way to being truly considered a top4 team.

I don’t get how anyone can’t be impressed by Flagg unless you just can’t stand Duke(like me) but I can’t deny the talent of Flagg.

Yesterday was his first big game and sure he made mistakes down the stretch but you don’t look like that last night as a freshman if you’re not very good . It’s not like we had our typical freshman team out there . He went against some talented upperclassmen

Yep, that's why their ratings are so bad. I can remember when ESPN first started, I would rearrange things to watch Sportscenter. Not so anymore. They've always slobbered all over ACC and what used to be BigEast teams. Those are their preferred teams and they promote them with propaganda.

ESPN/Disney are not big fans of the SEC and, particularly, the fans that root for the SEC. They love the ACC, Big East, and Big10's more "academic" institutions.

The reason i turn it off when it is not game action. No halftime, no pregame, no postgame. NBA League Pass saved me last night during halftime.

I don't know what it is (probably oversaturation), but sometimes i can't stand to listen to the same blowhards night-in, night-out, game-in, game-out.

Look, the kid is really good already, and only going to get better.

The Flagg love isn't for the college fans. ESPN doesn't care about NCAA until the tournament. ESPN is pushing Flagg for the real money, the NBA fans.
Problem is that he will go to the worst team in the league. He is a great player, but he’s not a franchise saver. Hope he shuts down for the season and starts getting ready for the draft.

Years ago, when we won big games I immediate tuned into ESPN to see the reaction. SportsCenter, ATH, PTI, etc. Those times are coming to an end I think.

After the game, I listen to radio postgame with actual interviews with the coaches and players.
For insight, I go to Sleepers or Field of 64 or Aaron Torres or Southeastern 16...from people who are actually college basketball fans and experts. I can get in-depth analysis not just about Kentucky, but college basketball in general -- and not just analysis whose sole goal is to promote viewership of ESPN televised games. They continue to do it in a top down model developed in 1998. It's archaic and it should die.

We'll know about them pretty quickly. Arizona, Kansas and Auburn all by Dec 4th, two of which are on the road. After that, as of today's rankings, they play ONE ranked team (unc-cheat), twice.

They need to win 2 of 3 against Auburn, Zona and Kansas if they want a 1 seed IMO. That’s a brutal stretch of games!

At one point i turned to my wife and said "why are they talking about other games when this one, the biggest game of the year so far, is actually going on?"

Don't remember when it was, but the game was actually in live action and Schulman and Bilas were talking about some other upcoming game or some other programming.

Tough to be a one seed when you don't rack up a lot of quad 1 wins. Gonna be tough for them if they don't win these big non conf games.

Field of 68 and CBS Eye on College Bball had a lot of good things to say about UK. Haven't seen anything from Andy Katz or any other college bball "talking heads"

Why would ESPN not care till the tournament ?
They have never once aired a NCAA tournament game. That's CBS,TBS TNT and Tru TV that does all the tournament games.
