AST% is a stat that tell you that, while on the floor, Player X gets that percentage of all assists made. So if Joe Smith get 2 out of the 10 assists that happened while we has on the floor, his AST% is 20%.

Here's some UK point guard AST%
Wall - 34.8
Knight - 23.4
Teague - 25.6
Harrison - 23.8, 26
Ulis -27.2, 32.3
Fox - 28.6
SGA - 28.8
Hagans -27, 36.4
Wheeler - 35.2, 34.2

.......drum roll.........

Dillingham - 40.8

Wheeler one of the most ball dominant dudes we've seen.

The stat definitely lends itself to ball dominance, and there's more to the tale of course. Wheeler has a high AST%, because passing was maybe his only real skill. Obviously, Dillingham is so much more dangerous because his offensive game is explosive. If he can score like he does AND dish... well that's why his +/- is 13 and True Shooting % is 64.6%

Oh by the way Sheppard leads the country in TS% at a mind boggling, unreal 87.2%

If he keeps that up, he'll has the best TS%, BY FAR since they had the available stats in 1948. The closest full season is 72.7%

What makes that even crazier is that he’s a guard doing it. Without looking I’m going to guess it was a dominant big w that 72.7….unless it was a low volume guard

Some 6-5 dude from Utah state, 24 mpg, shot a crazy 50.7% on limited attempts. In third place was Mark Williams from Duke, which again, makes sense for a big guy. Jaxson Hayes from Texas too. Again, big guys that really only dunk and shot free throws.

What even more shocking was the big concern many had for him coming out of high school. He was known as an Iverson type my ball guy so his transformation is a huge thing for him and this team. Got to give Cal credit for that. The kid seems to realized a new way to play and has bought into it completely. He makes moves now with the idea of setting someone else up and then gets a kick out of making that assist.

A guard who is worth his salt cares more about assists than scoring points. UK has three guards that are mismatches for everyone and all three have the same attitude.
