Dilemma: absolutely loathe the Irish but also think James Franklin is one of the bigger a-holes in CFB

How can I watch their game next week without any preference? Even if OSU schools TX (and I think they will), I HAVE to pull for them in the finals against either of the other two. And, do you know how much it hurts me to be forced to pull for the Buckeyes? But, the mere thought of Franklin or ND winning a championship causes unrelenting violent vomiting, so I guess I'm stuck.

Penn State allowed a serial pedophile coach their defense for years . Paterno and AD knew about it and ignored it. I will never root for them no matter who they are playing.
Even those responsible are either dead, in prison or fired--they continued building a brand. When they had to "start over" in the 2010s, yeah they struggled a year or two , but PSU was still a brand and unlike other programs that fell into obscurity after cheating scandals or drugs, PSU still came back and sellsout their stadium.

While the victims live what lives they have, they continue to sell out. I don't understand how someone can support that program knowing their brand was built on those kids backs

My father graduated from PSU in the 70s. I grew up going to Beaver Stadium. It was a huge part of my childhood before I moved to KY when I was 10

I know people have strong thoughts and opinions about what happened at PSU. Joe Paterno was warned about Sandusky, but Joe was so old and pure, I honestly don't think he could grasp that was reality. That a grown man would even do that to a child. He couldn't fathom that was real

Now the administrators who knew and Sandusky should all rot in hell forever.

But I seriously wrestled with this and questioned my ability to support psu. It took time, but I realized I can't let a few bad people ruin all the good that University has done. A few evil people shouldn't destroy an institution

So I continue to support them. It's not easy. I feel guilt still for being a fan

Honest question, if this happened at UK basketball, would you eventually forgive and still be a fan??

And many have strong opinions about this and don't know all the facts. Regardless of anything it was a disgusting travesty that should've never, ever happened. It will always leave a black mark in the program.

Not sure what basketball has to do with, as I'm a football guy but I would absolutely cut ties as a fan (and only recognize my alma mater as an educational institution).

It's just sick and twisted. It goes beyond NCAA violations. It kills me they are even televised. I hate UTenn as much as anyone, and wish bad Karma on them. Before the PSU scandal I bore no ill will toward PSU football. I even met Todd Blackledge and thought he was a neat guy. The level of what happened with Sandusky, Paterno et al takes my hatred of that program to a level I didn't know existed. I will still recognize PSU as a good school, but that's it.

To answer your question, if it happened with UK Football, I'd give up sports completely.

@stuway I appreciate you liking my post even if we disagree. Much respect .

I work w some PSU alum who are top notch. Engineering there at State College and Erie campuses are great.

Edit: one of the alum I work with is a Steelers fan, so I learned to tolerate LOL

If Ohio State and Notre Dame are the final two teams I just won’t watch. I can’t stand either team, you know that’s the two the media wants in the finals. They have been trying to get those two in the championship for years. I hope Texas wins it all, but if they get beat next game I won’t be watching. Penn State irks me as bad as the Buckeyes and Irish, mostly because of Franklin.

I won't watch a second either. I didn't watch any of michigan vs Washington either as that was a clear michigan blowout waiting to happen. I'm not one of those people that just has to watch every playoff football game (college or pro).

Not a huge fan of either program but rooting for ND over PSU is an easy call for me.

There are 3 programs left that I don't like at all... Actually I absolutely hate them, almost as much as ThugU...
I will pull for the Suckeye's over the fake Irish...
But let's give Texas a chance first, that is who I will pull for now that they are part of what's left... I have no love for any of them so I will hope Texas wins...

The Buckeyes had a harder path to the four than either of these teams. I will probably lean Irish in this game, but don’t really care. I will be pulling slightly for the Buckeyes against Texas. Both teams with expensive rosters. OSU just had the harder path in the playoffs. My primary preference is to have two outstanding games.

If Texas doesn't win it will be very disappointing. Doubt they will, but neither PSU, ND, nor OSU should be there. It really does pay not to have a tougher schedule in the regular season

I HATE Notre Dame . But I’ll pull for them over Penn St. or Ohio State .

How did having a "tougher" schedule hurt the SEC? They still got three teams in. One beat the other participant with a backup QB in the SEC championship . The other suffered an absolute beat down in the first round. NIL has leveled the playing field . Other teams buying SEC talent now. The SEC is still the best conference, but money has bought others SEC talent.

Catholics swept crimes, for years and how many other crimes do we not know of?
That's why I'll never support or cheer, for anything connected to Catholics/ Notre Dame.
Penn State and Michigan pedophiles, so no.
Bottom line it's all about the money instead of the truth, for all these institutions and they don't really care.
So it's Texas for me

You answered your own question. Injuries.

NIL hasn't done anything, because it's not NIL.

Pay for play HAS done what the networks and other conferences have always wanted to have happen. They've hated the SEC for decades and totally desired "parity" in college football. They're tired of having to cover/carry the smaller conferences, and just want all of the big ones to carry the same ad dollars.

Pay for play does all of this for them. It also concentrates a lot of money on one small pool for Vegas to control as well. Thats a win win win for them

If I was picking the four best teams for the 4-team playoff, OSU would have been in my four. Oregon, UGA, Texas, and OSU.
