I know it was a scrimmage but:
1. More rollout/bootleg?
2. Throws to the backs?
3. Throws over the middle?
4. More traditional screens with OL in front?
5. Changes to the running game emphasis?
6. Jet sweep action?
7. More shifts, motion pre-snap?

Just wondering what folks saw that looked different from last year.

TIA

I don’t know how much Scagerello showed in spring game but here is my take

1. All the throws were short to intermediate….not one deep ball I remember We wore out the slants and curls under
2. We did throw the screen for a Td which was nice wrinkle to see
3. I thought the Oline ran more outside zone blocking schemes….so you’ll see all the Oline moving to the right or left in sync and trying to create a seam to run thru. Not as much iso blocking is my guess will differ
4. We’ll still shift pre snap a ton. We’ll be in double TE sets a ton is my guess.

I didnt see much of the scrimmage but you pretty much laid out my wish list right there. The only thing I might add is a little more tempo at times. Not hurry up as I hate that part of the game but snapping earlier in the count. Just hate when we sit at the line checking etc. Think it does nothing but freeze our Oline and kill any rythm.

Love misdirection as well but think 1,6,7 will take care of that.

Fullback. That's a noticable difference and pretty rare these days
Honestly, seeing a fullback in Kentucky Blue for the first time since (I think) John Conner will be a treat. Like was mentioned in the spring game commentary, a true FB isn't something most college defenses typically have to prepare for. In the era of spread offenses, it'll be interesting to see how versatile the offense becomes with that little nuance.

John Conner AKA the Terminator. Man he knocked a few dudes out. I remember a preview show with the Jets and the staff was laughing about dudes getting killed by Conner and that was practice.

Like the Fullback. Loved the direct snap to the cutting RB, even though we had a false start and didn't get to see the result. Flow and misdirection will be a big part of the offense I think. I think flow is hard to defend because it’s a numbers game and it’s also brings the cut back into play.

UGA used to use the fullback(H) a lot on the waggles n passing game.

I think we played Moncell at FB the year after after Conner left.

I had the scrimmage on one screen baseball on another and TVG on third so I didn't quite have a laser focus on every snap.

Offensively the two things I noticed were that both Beau and Kaiya looked alright in my book. Beau certainly seemed more confident and poised. His arm strength just looks to be less than Will's. Maybe I'm wrong about that. But he certainly seemed confident in his reads. The WRs that were out there when I paid attention did not exactly excite me. But trying to be fair by pointing out I wasn't focused on every snap either.

Still waiting to see us use the TEs 😆

Beau was victimized by drops by the 2s. The 1st wr group looked good IMO. T Robinson looked like he'll do just fine replacing Wandale.

No one can intelligently say what is diff about this yrs offense as compared to last yr until after the Florida game

Honestly should be mostly the same formations and concepts. That's the point of hiring from the Rams/49ers tree!! Only real diff I've heard is Coach Rich brings some exotic run plays into our playbook.

49ers slip Kittle behind the DLine a fair bit, I would expect we will see that as well. Block like a run, then release.

I think formations may be one of the bigger differences actually. Unless the FB stuff just gets totally abandoned once the season starts.

Keaton Upshaw.

Definitely sort of a forgotten man. Going to be interesting to see if he was passed up by Bates (who last year coaches called one of the best players on the team) and Cummings (who we all saw was extremely dynamic and athletic)
