When other schools lose a top recruit to us it's a life changing catastrophe, the player deserves a career ending injury, and UK needs to burned to the ground. College basketball as a whole is being ruined.

When we miss out on a recruit, we just shrug our shoulders and wait for the next 5-star to sign.

I would replace the "we" with "Cal" in these statements. Cal's unreal recruiting since he has been here has us spoiled a bit. I remember a time not that long ago when we would kill to get ONE five star commitment. Cal, Coach K and to a lesser extent Bill Self are the only coaches who can recover from missing on a key target and replace him with another elite prospect.

Yeah, recruits that do not come to UK definitely get bashed by UK fans. The OP does make a brilliant point that the bitching process and personal attacks on the recruits is meaningless at UK as Coach Cal always finds someone else just as good, if not better to commit to UK instead.

I guess you don't read our football board. When Damien Harris went to Alabama, people were accusing him of everything except assassinating Kennedy. Even on the basketball board, I remember some ugly stuff posted here when Andrew Wiggins picked Kansas and when Malik Newman picked MSU. Poke the other fan bases if you like, but don't pretend that some of our fans aren't just the same.

I have to agree. We are just as bad as every other fanbase out there. I'm not sure why it's a big deal. It's not like just one fan base do these things. Every fan base in the entire country acts this way when things don't go as planned. When you think a recruit is yours and you think that way for years, when that recruit goes elsewhere, it has to hurt and people have to vent. It would be nice if people could just leave it alone and let these kids decide what they want to do with their future. It's really none of our business what any of these kids decide to do. I'm not sure why so many feel they have a say in how things go. It's insane.

I remember being pretty upset about Wiggins because it seemed like he begged for some school other than UK to recruit him before picking KU. He was thought to be ours for so long and the hype was crazy, so I was a little upset about the way it turned out. Never to an Arkansas fan level where I bashed the kid on the internet though.

The issue here is freedom of choice. In our country, people can go to whatever school they want. For sports fans to publicly bash a high school senior because of his school choice is bush and classless. I feel that way about Arkansans bashing Malik Monk, and I felt the same way about Kentucky fans when they were doing the bashing on other athletes. If any of those posters made a free choice and then found their choice criticized by people with stupid usernames on an internet website, they would surely feel offended and rightly so.

Pre Cal , Scotty Hopson . People lost they ish and were terrible . When you get 5 stars as backup plans , it makes it a whole lot easier to be cool .
