Did I read Jasper Johnson was on an official to Auburn this weekend ?

I hope he reclasses and comes to UK. Three-headed monster of Fland, Sheppard, and Johnson in the UK backcourt next season.
Nice, but not good enough without help from the portal. Add the best 2G (or one of the best of the best) from the portal and maybe a top PG who is a pretty good 3pt. scorer or another bigger 2G to play SF, to go along with Hart and Perry also, and then we may be in business in the backcourt next season.

That would be nice.

Then have Perry and Richmond for depth at the 1-3 spots.

Inside have Thiero, Onyenso, Quaintance, Burks, and Cyril.

Probably pie in the sky stuff coming, But how can Edwards, Bradshaw, and Z get favorable draft evaluations when they test the waters?
Maybe we get Edwards back, what does he do well that translates? Bradshaw can shoot and is a pick n pop big in today's NBA so he is probably gone to the draft and I dont see Z here next year after the debacle he has been through, however, he does seem to like Kentucky, so who knows?
Be nice to have any 1 of those 3 back though I don't expect any.

So you want:
PG Fland, top 3pt shooting portal PG, Perry
SG Sheppard, top portal 2G, Hart
SF J. Johnson, another bigger portal 2G to play SF, B. Richmond

9 guards/wings not counting Thiero?

If we can get Shep back, and convince Onyenso to stick around and not transfer, then I can realistically see this happening:

Starters

G Sheppard
G Fland
G Johnson
F Thiero
F Onyenso

Reserves

G Perry
G Richmond
F Burks
F Quaintance- 6th man
F Cyril

Sheppard is the key, though. Got to get him back.

Smart kid. He saw a way to see UK play another game in person. Can't wait to see you wearing UK blue Jasper.
That had Bruce Pearl all over it. You know he wanted johnson (KY Kid) down there to see him blow us out like they did USC, instead he found out as far as Auburn is concerned that UK is still the GOLD standard. lol

More gold plated right now but we did beat them.

Of course. I said what I said jokingly.

Why do you think Ugo would transfer? He is now our starting center and just played 36 minutes in our biggest win so far

Not exactly. What I proposed would total about 6 Guards by my calculation.

PG: Sheppard/Fland
2G: Portal 2G/Hart/Perry
SF: Richmond

** And EITHER a Portal PG or big 2G to play SF.

Richmond is not a Guard in my estimation. Still, even if UK had a roster with 9 Guards, that would not be so unusual in today’s game, right? For example, Auburn has 10 Guards. And if you count wings (e.g., SFs) too, then even 9 might be becoming a pretty standard roster.

**EDIT: Got curious about how many Guards some other good teams have on their roster and found the following:

Florida: 11 Guards
Kansas: 10 Guards
Marquette: 10 Guards
Seton Hall: 10 Guards
Wisconsin: 9 Guards
Virginia: 9 Guards
Ole Miss: 9 Guards
UCONN: 8 Guards
Houston: 8 Guards
Purdue: 8 Guards
Villanova: 8 Guards

You are seeing something about Bradshaw a lot of us are not seeing. He is not that great of a shooter IMO. Just don't see him going to the NBA this year. I know they draft on potential but I see very little potential in him.

Sheppard will be back IMO . But just for 1 more year . I think he stays and wins PLAYER of the Year awards and I think a decent chance one of the 3 who should do as well. Edwards least likely as he has been really upping his play and its easy to see IMO to scouts that gvien 2-3 offseasons in the NBA / G-league and he would be a lock starter big time contributor . Bradshaw will still be a top 40 pick regardless so I think Big Z is most likely and who knows maybe his little brother joins him. Not counting any of those 3 but its decently likely IMO at the same time.

What about we go a step further to really chase a title? Add a top 2G transfer (maybe a guy like James Blackmon’s son who I think you mentioned a few days ago) and another top 6’5”-ish transfer 2G 3-pt. scorer for the SF spot? That’s still only 12 players. In that scenario, I think Sheppard would probably be safe in your starting lineup. But I don't know if I would bet on Fland or Johnson being able to beat out the transfers in a fair competition. If they could, however, then great; UK would have nice depth. And if they could not, then fine as well; again, UK would have nice depth.

And I’m not talking about what Calipari will or won’t do with his roster. That’s an unknown despite what some seem to think they know, and besides it doesn’t answer the question anyway. The questions I’m posing are: Should UK go after the best transfers (even if they have signed a 5-star who wants to play a particular position), and should incoming freshmen have to compete with the best transfers for starting positions and playing time? I think if you want to lay a claim to being the top program in CBB and your goal is chasing championships year-in-and-year-out, then the answer should be “Yes,” right?

Blackmon (Stetson) would be great. Reynolds (St. Joe’s) is probably more likely and maybe a better prospect at SG.

White (UNC-W) has been mentioned at SF.

I’d take one of those plus Jasper Johnson with Sheppard and be ecstatic. Johnson is a long, skinny 6’4 that can play as a 3. He needs to add some muscle, but he would be fine, I think at the 3.

Ideal scenario is probably Reynolds and Johnson to go with Sheppard, Fland, Richmond, and Perry at 1-3 spots. That’s a pretty strong six at guard.

Ivisic is going to try his luck in the NBA draft, most likely.

His potential is through the roof and the NBA drafts on potential.
He already put his name in the draft twice. If he does it again, there's no coming back. I hope he stays around, he seems like a good kid who loves it here, even after the way his career started here
