Did anyone else not know about the Feinstein/Katz feud?

I was reading a story about Britt McHenry, who was fired from ESPN, and in the story it said Feinstein had tweeted that many good and talented people lost their jobs at ESPN, and added "some not so good or talented did too", and named McHenry and Katz in the latter category. What the hell is his beef with Katz? Andy is twice the sports journalist Feinstein will ever be. Katz understands that he isn't the story and doesn't pepper his comments with bias and lies.

I was blown away that they got rid of Katz. IMO, he was the best they had.

Maybe Katz didn't kiss Feinstein's ring.

IMHO. ESPN letting Katz go was a huge mistake, one of the worst ESPN made when they let all the people go
i give them props for letting Britt McHenry go, even though it was much too late

Feinstein was one of the pioneers of the "follow one team around for a season and document it" types of sports writing. He did so with Indiana in 1986, "Season on the Brink." Decent read.

He's had a few other decent sports books but became a fat cat and started just recycling old material and packaging it.

He's your typical leftcoast dbag sportswriter who takes himself and his profession was too seriously. He's also a pimplefaced Duke alum Class of '78 geek who's hated UK since we beat down his beloved team for the title. He's been taking pot shots at us for 40 years.

So does Katz and Chad Ford have to stay off air for 6 months and then be able to work elsewhere?

Where would you like to see Katz end up? He is good, and I think he deserves another slot.

Doesn't it say everything when you keep Goodman as your face of college basketball insider reporting?

Feinstein is a whiny D-Bag. Still unable to get over the title game loss in '78. As Jon Scott says, Feinstein's accounts of what transpired in that game aren't even factually correct

Who is Feinstein? Who does he work for?

He's been all over the place. I think his most recent job was with CBS, from which he was fired. He was a big proponent that Adolph Rupp was supposedly a racist. He haaaaaaaates Kentucky. In a book he wrote about the '78 Duke team, he called them Cinderella and Kentucky "the ugly step-sister." In another he calls Kentucky the "bastion of cheating" and Indiana "the bastion of honesty."

Yeah, no bias there.
Katz understands that he isn't the story and doesn't pepper his comments with bias and lies.
That's why they got rid of him. Unbiased guys like Katz don't ruffle people up and make them write angry comments on articles that, while ignorant, get lots of attention & therefore lots of hits. It's why you see Jay Bilas' freaking face all over the place; his one-sided opinions garner attention. The media outlets don't care if it's good attention or bad. People watching on tv and clicking on articles don't measure whether people actually like it or not.

It's sad that this is what journalism has become, but you may as well accept it. The only way it changes is if people ignore that crap and you just can't get millions of riled up people to turn their heads and say "forget it."
