DickieV suffers setback on return

I am one of those old dudes! Most of us would rather go out acting young, than acting like we are ready for the grave. I still Golf. I still workout. I still snow ski on double black diamonds (expert runs)...Who wants to wait around, lay around, enjoy life hopefully you one day will get to your golden years

But are you still working your full time job? No one is saying don't travel or do active things.

Please retire already and take Lee Corso with you.
I get that watching guys age can be spooky and remind us of our own mortality, but I want them to keep going for as long as they want or can.

Corso has great rapport with Herbstreit and has been a mentor to him. Watching them interact has been a pleasure these past few years.

Dickie V, for all his ailments (including being a duke fan), has more passion for college basketball in one finger than a ton of fans have in their whole bodies. He certainly has more passion than a bunch of bs-ing talking heads that modern sports media conglomerates are so keen to manufacture.

Not everyone is content to sit on their asses when they get older. I for one hope I keep kicking and contributing long after I start pulling retirement, so I can't fault others for wanting to do the same. Just my 2¢.

Yes, Still Senior Pastor At our Church, Will be till the Lord Calls me home!

Add preacher to that list I mentioned. A lot of people do that into their 70s and 80s and til they die honestly.

Most jobs you aren't able to keep going at that age. No one will want me working n finance or accounting at 81 I can tell you that lol.

Depends. We have a guy in our church that still does it for people. Sharp as a tack.

The guy gets a front row seat to watch some of the best college basketball games. Are we really trying to compare that with some of the jobs u all are referring to? The man is the most passionate college basketball fan ever known to man, chill out and let him do it till he passes away with the headset on if he wants. Geez. What’s it to yall?

He hasn't sounded particularly well the last several years but the man is Mr. College Basketball. I'm sure it makes him feel young and keeps him going to get in an arena and be apart of those loud atmospheres. He's also a legitimately great person. I'd never tell someone like that to go away. Heck, we need more people like him in sports.

Guarantee he fell. My dad is battling liver cancer and just will not stop trying to do the physical things he did even in his mid to late 70s. He’ll be 82 next week. It’s maddening.

My stepdad fell like 10 times when he was recovering from cancer. There comes a time when you have to take grandpa's car keys away. It sounds cruel but Vitale was once the young buck who replaced an older person early on.

Its tough - lost my mom last spring after 5 years of dementia

Hope you have some support and ppl to talk to

Hang in there

I wish him well but he isn't good at what he does anymore and hasn't been for more than a decade. He has been a caricature of his late 80's and 90s self for even longer. He hasn't been any good with in game analysis since the 90s. I'm not a fan of just allowing people to stay on because of "history" or whatever, you have to perform. Hubie Brown is 5 years older and has been far better than Vitale the past 20 years and he is hanging up. Vitale should too. He can appear on first take or whatever dumb espn show for discussion or debate or whatever they have going on if he wants to stay busy. He should focus on staying healthy.

Not a rant against our older folks - if you are 100 years old and can still go then by all means.

They limit Corso appearances for a reason.

Yessir! Keep it young inside as long as you can. Age is just a number. Saw a lady on the news last week who is 100 and she golfs almost every day. She has a nice easy swing and hits it straight. You go girl! I just love old people. You can learn a lot from them because they've been there and done that.
