12-17 37 points in the first half against the Pacers.

Sounds like ESPN needs to hire somebody that's passed 2nd grade math. Or is that 1st grade math? It's been a while since I was in early gradeschool, went to 1st grade in a one room elementary school(grades 1-8). I was both 1st and last in my 1st grade class.ESPN wrote of Doncic's night, "Add the assists in there, and nobody in NBA history had as many points, rebounds and assists in the same game as Doncic did on Friday." (73 pts, 10 rebounds, 7 assists = 90)
On Chamberlain's record 100 point night, he also had 25 rebounds and 2 assists (127)
I just read the story about Wilt's game: the Knicks kept fouling other players to minimize Chamberlain's impact. The 76s began quickly fouling Knicks to counter.
Wilt payed for the Warriors when he scored 100 pts in 1962. The 76ers moved to Philly a year later.ESPN wrote of Doncic's night, "Add the assists in there, and nobody in NBA history had as many points, rebounds and assists in the same game as Doncic did on Friday." I mean it’s pretty obvious. Doncic obviously hit some ridiculous shots tonight but when 4 guys approach 70 points in one week that says a lot about the rules.I think it’s time for the NBA to assess whether it went too far with the rule changes to remove defensive physicality. That doesn’t mean we need to return the 90s brutal ball stuff, but geez, at least allow more than they are now.
The stat inflation the last few years has gotten ridiculous. It’s simply become too damn easy to score … and largely because of the league’s efforts to tie the hands of defenders.
An interesting thing(to me anyway) about that incredibly high game score is that it was not the product of players being as skilled as those of today or of rules changes to favor the offensive players. It was because the game is so young that little defensive things like doubling the post just hadn't been invented(thought of?) yet. Wilt caused doubling the post to be invented; that's why his scoring average went down 13 points or so the next year, he didn't just get lazy. If you've heard about his off court exploits you know he wasn't lazy.Wilt payed for the Warriors when he scored 100 pts in 1962. The 76ers moved to Philly a year later.

It really is crazy how dramatically the way NBA games are officiated has changed in just the last couple decades.I mean it’s pretty obvious. Doncic obviously hit some ridiculous shots tonight but when 4 guys approach 70 points in one week that says a lot about the rules.
It’s not just hie defenses have been handcuffed either but also how much leeway the offense has been given. Players are allowed to travel, carry, double dribble, basically do whatever the hell they want. It’s not basketball anymore. Gave that shit up a long time ago, won’t ever go back and I was once a huge NBA fan. It’s total garbage now. No offense to those who like it, just not for me any longer. It really is crazy how dramatically the way NBA games are officiated has changed in just the last couple decades.
Go back and watch some of those playoff games from the late 1990s and then watch the way NBA games are played today. It’s like a night and day difference. Back then defenses were allowed to basically beat the shit out of guys. Now they’re barely allowed to breathe on them. And I’m not saying either approach is entirely right, but geez, you’d think the league would be able to find some happy medium in between those two extremes.
How many points could Michael Jordan have gotten against defenses as they’re played today?

I prefer the 90s style with elite defense and possessions where each fan base was holding on for dear life. It created real rivalries and genuine disdain amongst players. It really is crazy how dramatically the way NBA games are officiated has changed in just the last couple decades.

He would have 60 every other week for sure. Probably 70, he would average 20+ FT’s a game. So would Kobe.It really is crazy how dramatically the way NBA games are officiated has changed in just the last couple decades.

He hit a few difficult shots but Doncic was able to get to rim with ease.I watched the whole Mavs game, and I bet Luka had 30 points right at the basket. Obviously the Hawks weren't playing much D, but they did start to face guard Luka in the 4th. The thing about the game now is how the 3 point shot has taken over, and the range these guys can shoot from. It's almost like teams will give up a layup to avoid giving an open look at a three. I wonder if a really spread out match-up 2-3 zone might work in today's game.
I thought Cal held them back on offense?Well he played for Cal so there's that
Me and Doncic combined for 73; give us a round of applause.
