Came a long way from a 4 star player (according to some recruiting services) in such a short amount of time.

So happy for him. Great kid and family. This guy is living the life and is absolutely thrilled with his choice of playing for Kentucky. Couldn't ask for better ambassadors of the program than the guys we had this year - WCS, Towns, Lyles, Booker, Dakari - even the twins have spoken well of their UK experience.

Hopefully Ulis will be joining his buddy in the league in the next few years.

Rookie deals are nearly always for the 120% amount.

Yea I could only find a few guys who got less. Since 2012 Andre Roberson, Marquis Teague, Dennis Schroeder got less than the 120% in their first year.

He gave it to his dad.

Selfish. Kid gets paid a ton of money, and you suggest he should have come back to receive no money, and get developed less (by nature of the NBA, it will always develop players better than any college can).

Yeah because he didn't play good in the one game we lost last year and proved he wasn't ready for NBA.

If we should have held players back based on their performances in the one game that they lost, while discounting the previous performances of the 38 that they won, then we should have sent 0 to the draft, despite several of them being deserving. He played a bad game. There is not a single basketball player, and I mean literally, not a single one, that hasn't played a bad game at some point. Did his bad game come at in inopportune time? Sure, but it is what it is.

Stats suggested that he was ready for the NBA, his skill level suggested that he was ready for the NBA, the NBA scouts suggested that he was ready for the NBA, as well as many front office executives, as well as a basketball coach for our university that has sent a large sum of players to the NBA in his career, suggested that he was ready for the NBA. They based that assumption on the body of work, not the single most bitter point of his career, to determine that.

I don't expect you to be rational about it, or agree on any level, but that's an awful lot of people that know what they're talking about who seem to agree that he was ready to go.

He is clearly being sarcastic. Gonzo is all for kids leaving when they have the chance from what I can tell.

I agree. He owes the fanbase a natty title. He cost UK the championship...let's just tell it how it is.

He didn't. The whole team did. He contributed to the loss, but it's not all on him, and he owes nothing to UK. His scholarship was guaranteed for one year, and he played, for one year, above expectations that are typically unreasonable when it comes to quite a few in this fan base. After his one year, he made a decision that was best for him, and I'm happy for him. I doubt there's a single person here that would take a pass if they were in his shoes. Admit to it or not, but when you're 18 years old, and millions of dollars, as well as a lifelong dream is being offered to you, you're going to take it. He did what any typical human being with aspirations would do, and he took it.

You're a really good poster, and that's a really good post, and it's similar to ones I've been typing on this board since April. I agree with you. I've been mocking our fans who said guys like Booker or Lyles should have come back, not being serious in this thread.

My mistake then. Typically I agree with Gonzo on a lot of things, I just kind of assumed that this one one of the few things that we don't agree on. I can be pretty poor at reading context though text messages, in my defense.

The sad thing is that I could make all of those posts and them be completely believable because so many posters here actually say things like that and mean them.

That's why I got onto my little rant, and why it was so believable to me. It's pretty typical to see posted around here.

Didn't think there was a chance he was ready. My bad. So excited for him. Good kid.

Should have came back IMO. Played no D versus Wisconsin.

Let's hope without proper education on finances he's smarter with his money than the countless examples of people in his case that weren't. His talent and potential got him that cash. It doesn't mean he couldn't have come back. But I get where you're coming from.

He probably would have went higher if he came back, but no guarantees. Lotto is lotto and they do not really make a crap ton more at 1 than 13. Now he will get that 2nd contract (the real important one) a year earlier by leaving after his frosh season...coming back would not changed whether he succeeds or fails in getting that big contract.

Booker could've come back, and there would have been nothing wrong with it if he did. Lots of players aren't ready even if they are technically "ready". It really is a case by case basis. To act as if you know Booker or Lyles or anyone couldn't have benefited form coming back just shows the incredibly conceded nature of some. There's nothing wrong with leaving if you feel ready. There's nothing wrong with someone who thinks they weren't quite ready. I understand we need to show good program manners here:rolleyes:, but really, must we talk down to posters who think they could have done some good by returning? Really?

Not really what I was getting at but I agree with ya.

I just think there is one thing certain people around here want to ignore. Lots of these kids go broke. It actually is a huge problem. No one should act as if they know which way is the right way, and it just seems to me that we have some that force one side.
