Depth chart

Christman is out for year with ACL. Bingham was a 4* recruit. Goodwin was a 5* recruit. We’ve won our share of recruiting battles for OL. But, I agree, we need to see better production this year. I realize coaches have different philosophies about rotating OL. But, I’d like to see what our depth also looks like.
This year we find out if last years offensive line woes were the result of the OC's schemes or OL coaching. Hopefully Coen gets things straightened out.

The good ole no offense before you go off on somebody(joking if people can’t tell I’m joking). The staff won’t come out and say he is playing bad, they won’t bash a player like that. He wasn’t good last year, and in my opinion if he Kentuckys starter long term they are in trouble. If flax improves and is good I will give him the credit he deserves and admit I’m wrong. But anyways respect the viewpoint, and let’s hope flax makes me look stupid
Just curious, not even sure if you were around then, have no idea how old you are, but when Andre Woodson was a sophomore in 2005 and UK went 3-8, did you say "If he's our QB, then we are in trouble". Did you ever think he would end up throwing for over 7200 yards, 71 TD's against only 18 INT's and set an NCAA record for most pass attempts without an INT during his Junior and Senior seasons? I know we're talking about a QB vs. an OL, but point is players put in the work and improve. You can't just make a blanket statement that we are in trouble if a player who struggled in the previous season is in the lineup. It's a new season, give the guys the benefit of the doubt until they prove you right or wrong.

I was 4 at the time so I barley remember that year

My biggest concern among the starters remains the offensive line, and my second biggest concern is (proven) depth at QB, RB, WR, and OL. However, if you told me the starters would all get through the year healthy then I'd think 9 wins is probable. The defense should be Top 10 in the country if not higher, and the offense will be improved (20 ppg to...30 ppg?).

This depth chart has a few holes - like most teams that have not been a Top 10 recruiter for the last 3-4 cycles - but on paper it looks pretty dang good to me.

I’ve witnessed joker Phillips teams in person, I was at that vandy game in the rain where they beat Kentucky by 100 in the rain
LOL. Those were two really bad years after he barely made a bowl with Rich Brooks holdovers. I lived through the Bill Curry years and was in the stadium for much of it. I’ve had season tickets longer than you’ve been alive.

“I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

Talent is not the problem with Flax, it is being consistent that is the problem. Huge difference, it is not like he is a total bust.

He has bad feet/quickness for a tackle….so I’d argue there is some potential talent issues with Flax

Maybe he’ll play faster and not be confused…which is coaching….but he was a turnstile on passing downs last year

He was a walking penalty last year….which may be more mental

Blade Runner was a classic, loved that movie...

I absolutely hate to ever say that someone should lose their job but naming Flax the starter at RT is a HUGE red flag on Yenser. They could have always replaced Ford with him if Ford couldn't get it done but starting Flax is just ignorant. He proved last year that he's not starter material and this does nothing but stunt Fords growth as an SEC capable starter IMO.

Ford being a LT before be got here, and only a LT, is being overlooked here. Flax greatest advantage over Ford is that he’s a RT, and has been getting reps at RT for the majority of his time here. It was a big ask for Ford just to overcome that and beat Flax out, from the jump at least. Time will tell who’s the better RT for us this year, but at this moment, Flax, and all of his experience at the position, is our best option. That may change, it may not, but it is what it is. Our first three games will answer a lot of questions we have about the position going forward. No need to panic….yet.

Good point.

I wonder if Ford has cross trained any at LT?
I know Ray (w/o transfer from WVU) is listed #2 at LT, but think Ford would be better suited because of experience.

God forbid if anything happens to M Cox because we are THIN at OT.

Be happy we have a head coach secure in himself & his roster that he actually releases a depth chart to the media & fans. Bama fans don't get that courtesy.
So silly, Nick. As if your roster doesn't know who is 1st string & who isn't. They are at practice, when the speakers on the practice fields in Tuscaloosa yell out "1st string up" they know what 11 run out there and what guys don't.

I wonder if this is why Flax is being given every chance to get snaps at RT.
Ford may very well play LT in case of injuries.

Interested to see Brandon White also. Read where he ran a 4.28 forty his junior year in HS. Looks good in his video's. A smooth and fast runner.
