DeAndre Moore Jr., No. 2 WR in 2023 class commits to UL

Unfortunately their class next year is ok it’s way to being loaded. I’m stunned by how well they’ve recruited so far.

If they out recruit us this year it will be 100% because of NIL. We have a better program and staff currently. Not even knocking them for it because it’s the new world of college football, but it’s another bad sign about our NIL readiness
Can't imagine UK being out-NILed by anybody but they sure seem to be in a swoon for some reason or other.

1. Long time til signing day....so UL has a long time to hold this kid
2. UK's recruiting is simply not popping like it should after another Citrus bowl, Levis-Heisman, etc....

I'm starting to wonder about UK and NIL....and Mitch's comments have me concerned if he's holding the program back.

It’s my biggest concern but it is fixable. However I think NIL resources are going to be up there with conference, facilities, assistant salary pool as reasons to go to or leave a school. This is very important for us to get rolling which we’re capable of doing.

UL money is Adidas. Using that, and raiding California to build a middling ACC program is a curious choice. Pretty embarrassing for everyone in the entire Pac 12 to let the likes of Louisville out recruit you on your own damn side of the country.

Any UK fan alarmed should look a little closer. Who are their commits? Little guys. Skill position guys. Offense guys. Not a helluva difference from what they have put on the field against us last 4 yrs. We grind them to dust on both lines of scrimmage.

I'll start being concerned when they sign 4 star O linemen and 4 star D tackles, several classes in a row. For now, Satterfield is making himself un fireable no matter the 2022 record, or how badly Levis mangles them after Thanksgiving.

Bet $100 he never plays at UL.

I won't take that, but even if plays, catches 140 passes for 1500 yards and 25 TDs, no prediction just a what if, one of the big money schools, Texas, ATM, Arkansas, and wouldn't Oregon love to steal away a player from Adidas?

Spot on! It's impressive what they've been able to do, but they aren't really addressing their weakness, just sort of upgrading one of their strengths.
That QB commit has been their best recruiter. They need a solid season and to keep him, long ways away from signing day.

Do they?

If the paperwork has been inked on an NIL deal, wouldn’t a player be forced to fulfill the deal?

Along with the opportunities of contracts come responsibilities.

It is a good point. A lot on this thread are reacting to the UL recruiting using pre NIL thinking.

Do kids care about winning anymore? About being on a championship team? About playing for a good coach? About fans? About facilities? Sure seems like getting money, right now, is the driving force in CFB today.

Hell the 5* qb going to Knoxville doesn't even care he is somewhere that the scheme & position coaching does NOT prepare for an NFL career. At all.q

So whatever got cali kids to commit to ul probably won't go away if they struggle to be ,500, or lose to UK by 30, again.

Gonna be interesting when the first star recruit tries to flip his commitment but the collective says oh no, you signed with us first, stay or we sue you to the poor house.

I’m not sure, one way or another.

The consensus is that Texas Schools have a clear upper-hand. And this likely includes more than UT and aTm.

As Grumpy has noted, Arkansas has several sources, with folks like Jerry Jones as graduates, and most of the Walton clan, Tyson Chicken folks, etc.

Can we be Top 20?

Do we find an equitable split between the revenue sports?

I have always thought one reason we excelled in basketball and not football was related to the comparative “costs” of maintaining each program, and more money flowed to basketball, as it required less investment, with fewer players.

They'll be passing the plate a second time on Sunday all over the Lone Star State to fund those TCU and Baylor "NIL" deals. 🤣

I love wearing blue colored glasses as much as the next guy but this is a pretty absurd statement. Texas A&M just used NIL to sign arguably the best recruiting class ever, UT apparently dropped 8 million on their 5 star QB with booster NIL money, USC is cleaning up with NIL money in the transfer portal, Bryce Young is making millions at Alabama under the NIL, LSU boosters kept Kayshon Boutte from transferring with a lucrative deal, Texas has a NIL deal for their entire OL in the north of $800k range, and that’s not even to mention the likes of Ohio St, Florida, Notre Dame, and Georgia which have significantly larger fan bases and boosters in football. I wish UK could be a leader in NIL in football but this simply won’t be the case anytime soon.

I'll change that to read "UK SHOULD NOT be out-NILed by anybody."

The QB is the key to getting WR's. I am very worried about how we replace Levis. Going to the portal does not necessarily equate to getting young WR recruits. So far we have struck out on recruiting a top QB and that needs to happen to maintain the Levis momentum.

I am a Cardinal fan but you make excellent points. Games are won in the trenches and you guys have been trotting out men against boys. You have a nice thing going and until we get some beef I would not worry too much.

Well presumably if a person is getting hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars….there are contacts involved. These deals are not just chump change….kids aren’t going to be able to just flip anytime they want…welcome to the real world
The contracts can start before enrollment or an LOI and without school involvement? I doubt seriously whether it could be enforced.
