The CJ Op writer Ricky Jones is a hate filled hack. You'd think he and the CJ would understand that the guy is over 600 days unemployed BECAUSE HE IS DIRTY. But this attempt to rewrite history is just cover for the fact that the CJ was a partner in the narrative that Jurich was the top AD in the land and that our guy was a clown. But a funny thing happened.

Hopefully we will learn to appreciate what we have when it really is a good thing.
Can we be real for a moment? Pitino and Jurich weren’t dismissed because they were shiftless ne’er-do-wells. They were professionally assassinated largely because of the ego trips of a small number of members of an illegally appointed university board of trustees shoved down the school’s throat by Kentucky Gov. Matthew Bevin, who then used an underperforming, mendacious interim president as their shill.

When Mitch Barnhart arrived at Kentucky 17 years ago, he operated in the shadows of the athletics director up the road. Tom Jurich was the national star, deservedly so for his job of turning Louisville’s sports program into a national force. Less than two decades later, however, oh how the tables have turned.
Jurich is the one out of a job, fired by U of L for a collection of scandals within the department. And Barnhart is the one now recognized officially as the best in the business. The latter happened Wednesday night at the New York’s Marriott Marquis hotel when the 59-year-old Barnhart was named “Athletic Director of the Year” by Sports Business Journal.
Deservedly so.
Hopefully we will learn to appreciate what we have when it really is a good thing.
