I said it, when the story first broke. I think Higgins made the story up to be shown as the victim of those nasty UK fans, and take the heat off himself for his ineptness, or corruptness.
good. They shine a negative light on UK all the time with their agenda's anyways..... at least now Higgins' pathetic corrupt officiating will be connected to it.
Higgins' made a huge mistake going public with this.......... because now the world thinks he must of effed up really bad to get death threats. (since the common person doesnt know they get them all the time...they just know this one story)

As I have said... I think it is entirely plausible threats were made by an imbecilic fan. I certainly don't have proof. But considering the levels of idiocy I have occasionally witnessed here, I don't find it unfathomable.

If there were any they should have come from NCAA officials. He put a spotlight on the NCAA's lack of concern for the game by continuing him as a referee.
Is it reasonable to assme that such obviously bad officiating by Mr.Higgins is an indication that he is betting in the games he is calling?
I wouldn't want to play UNC with Higgins calling the game. Gonna be an officiating cluster of epic proportions.
His officiating the rest of way will be put under a microscope by the media.
If he calls the UNC game, then you know the fix is in. No way that the NCAA lets him ref UNC after the UK debacle, unless they have one purpose, and that is to make sure UNC wins it all.
What would anyone do? He has the green light to evidently fix games from the NCAA. The NCAA won't have to explain much at all, because most of the sports media establishment will cover it up.

But that is the reason for the OP posting this, to make a point that there has been no evidence of any threats by a known UK fan.
