Higgins said the threats were made on a recorded private line. Even if caller ID was blocked police authorities would have access to phone records showing where call originated and voice tape.

I have seen murder cases solved quicker than this . Is Higgins really just making it all up?

Why haven't the Media asked for the tape and phone records?

Smells like dead fish to me.

Surely by day 5 they'll have an arrest in Higginsgate.

LOL...not to scare you but it takes more than 4 days. Maybe you should report your phone was stolen by some guy with a KSR tee shirt.

Not if the FBI is involved, which they supposedly were. Especially just days before the Final Four, where he's expected to officiate.

Maybe if you're dealing with deputy dipshit down at the local sheriff's dept it may take more than 4 days.

God, you're truly stupid.

My feeling is that Higgins made up the whole thing about death threats to deflect all the negative attention he was getting. If you watch the terrible officiating calls against Ky. and the ones that were not called that would have been helpful, you can see Higgins officiated with an agenda and was being totally dishonest.

I think he lied and made it all up as well about the threats.

Rivals fans started going to his facebook and posting and the way trolls love to troll UK board so much it would surprise me if a lot of them were trolling there and acting as if they were UK fans.

but untill an arrest is made he lied about being threatened.

If the FBI was involved that would be taken care of real quick with phone records.

why would we believe a corrupt referee ... who 'In My Opinion' ... should have the FBI investigating him for gambling.

Refs get threatened all the time during the course of the regular season, per 3 anonymous Final Four refs, it's just most don't take them that seriously and try to make a federal case out of it.

Sounds like a few of Higgins colleagues think he's being a little over dramatic here and needs to develop some thicker skin.

So he's "truly stupid" because he thinks the investigation could take more than four days? Really?

Can we let this stuff die here and let it play out else where? If we keep talking about this, it just gets worse.

Unfortunately...this game is going to play out all the way. I think some people that went full retard thought this was a 1 inning game and they were the only ones that got to bat. The media for sure and perhaps legal & Law enforcement will get their turn.

Best case...the silly stuff stops and we endure media bashing for a month...then have to endure this every NCAA tourney for 20 years like the Laettner shot comments.

Worst case...Cat fans are charged hauled into court and we get constant ESPN updates, weekly articles from various media.

I seriously doubt Higgins will suffer much at all....having been elevated to victim by the very people that thought this was a great idea..

I don't know about you guys, but there's a few different types of death threats. A big difference in:

"I hope you get hit by a bus!"
vs.
"I'm going to kill you and your whole family!"

I'm going to assume the first one happened more than a couple times. Probably not the type of death threats the media is clamoring for.

FBI investigators are probably hooked on Rupp Rafters now and seeing how serious UK hoops can be.

I can see some FBI agents reviewing the clips of the questionable calls, then reporting back to him and saying "Well, I don't agree with the threats, but you know these people do have a legitimate gripe... how in the hell do you keep getting to ref tournament games and elevated to the Final Four? Are the other refs THAT bad?"

At least a day to respond to local request...another to interview Higgins, staff, local LEO.

It would take days just to get the subpoena's and data from ISP's, phone providers, etc. Then they'd need to comb through the data. Then....they might want to monitor or dig looking for destruction of evidence.

Hell, It will take the way more than 4 days to trace the burner phone back to U9K.

Common sense....

No, because I've read all his posts the past 2 days on the matter and they're all stupid.

And yet....every concern I voiced is playing out as if I wrote the script. Not hard....just takes common sense.

You sound like another whistling past a graveyard...hoping that 4 days mean you're in the clear.

Did you use a VPN, a proxy IP, a fake FB account made with an untraceable email as in an offshore provider?
I know all about hiding on the internet and it's really really hard.

.

This is a basketball story… Interesting, and perhaps compelling some college basketball fans. This isn't Watergate. The media is not going to be asking for audio tapes of some imbecile threatening a referee.

I honestly haven't called him, haven't left any reviews, and haven't signed any petitions. I'm sitting back and enjoying all the attention he's getting.

Also, you're delusional if you think the FBI is going to let a death threat toward a referee (Who's getting ready to officiate in an event that rakes in a billion dollars a year) linger for 4 days. I really don't think any death threats were made, although I'm sure folks said some pretty nasty things toward him. "I wish you'd die" is far different than saying, "I am going to kill you". One of those is a death threat, the other is freedom of speech, even if it is hateful and uncalled for.

Maybe you're unable to discern the difference. That's a you problem, not a UK fans problem.

I didn't even try to hide my number and don't really care if they contact me. As far as I'm concerned, I was calling to get a roofing quote and the conversation got sidetracked . There weren't any threats made by me. I simply told Higgins what I thought of his performance.

Alibi building? Your lawyer should love the hours you put on his worksheet.

Maybe there's really not a case. Maybe someone said I wish you were dead or I hope you fall off a roof and die. In which case I wouldn't think that would be considered a death threat. Idk

I have a feeling he interpreted some statement as a death threat. That doesn't mean the authorities think it is enough to prosecute. Could also be that Higgins simply wanted it to stop and didn't want to prosecute.

I think it would be great if the FBI arrested Higgins, right before tip off of the final four, with the charge of filing a false statement to law enforcement.
