Davion Mintz has HOPS

I just want him to initiate the offense, not turn the ball over, knock down open shots, and play defense.

I think we will get enough highlight reel dunks from Clarke, Boston, Brooks, and Sarr.
I’m pretty excited to see him advance the ball in transition. He seems to have great vision on the break.

Idk why but I feel like I’m really going to like Mintz suiting up and playing his tail off next year. I’ve liked him since we’ve signed him for some odd reason. It’s like love you just can’t explain it haha

Looks like he plays under control and has good BB IQ.

He had some really great games against Villanova (Brunson), and that was as a Sophomore. The junior year wasn’t as great but it appears the team wasn’t as good around him. By all accounts he was due to have a great year last year before the injury! I have a really good feeling as well and don’t forget this is the guy Cal wanted!

I don't believe that for a second. Mintz has to have a solid 30-32 inch vertical to do that which is decently above avg college player.

mmm go back and look at the verticals of the guards we’ve had come through here over the years. I think the only guards we’ve had with lower 30’s verticals in the last 11 years were briscoe and mays maybe.

Mintz does look like he’s got some long arms though.

I have no idea what his vertical is...obviously. It
depends on what you define as vertical. I am just talking a standing vertical jump. Not a running max.

Here’s a pointless and stupid game, which of our guards could do a between the legs dunk in recent years :

2010 Wall and Bledsoe: yes
2011: Lamb no, Knight maybe? (I say yes)
2012: Teague maybe?
2013 Harrow and Mays: no
2014 Harrison’s: maybe? (I say no)
2015: Ulis no, Booker yes
2016: Murray yes
2017 Green and SGA: no
2018: Quickley no, Hagans maybe?
2020: Mintz yes, Askew no

Extra points for spelling Ulis correct. [winking]

Harrow is a yes. The Harrisons were 6’5 so yes.
SGA was 6’6 with a 7 ft wing span so yes. Hagans is a yes. Askew is probably a yes.

Besides, going between the legs isn’t that big of a deal for a guy 6’5. At that height it’s more about reach and timing than vertical leaping ability.

Harrow could damn near put his head on the rim btw.

Lol, yes it is a pointless argument.

For the sake of it here is this...Keldon, Hagans and IQ all had standing vertical in 30-32 range. But you also have to have the coordination/hands/arm length to do the dunk.

These arguments are nuts. There was an argument on here a while back on a move by BJ Boston in a game, in transition where one of our poster's claimed it was in everyone's HS mixtape....have never seen it once.

Harrow was a freak athlete, dunking def wasn’t the issue!

standing vertical, these are what I have found

Briscoe 28"
Hami 34.5"
Teague 32.5"
Lamb 29"
Herro 29"
Quade 27.5"
Brad 25"- off the charts :)
Hagans 30.5"
Maxey 29"
Juzang 27.5"
IQ 32"
Whitney 31.5" but insane 42" max
