Just saw where Dave Serrano is coming back for another year at Tennessee. He is 130-138 and has never made the tourney at UT.

Interesting, he loses his best players also. Nick Senzel, Vincent Jackson, also loses veteran pitcher Andy Cox. I forsee another year of struggles on Rock Top !

This is pretty surprising. I think that he's done an excellent job of getting some really high profile players and developing them into future professionals. However, he can't seem to put it all together on one team at one time. Last year I think he had some pretty solid pitching, but they couldn't find their bats. This year their hitting was outstanding and they even had some decent starting pitchers, but their bullpen was atrocious. He has some okay young talent, but replacing over 170 RBIs from Jackson, Senzal, and Rodgers is going to be extremely tough. Not to mention they lose senior starters, Chris Hall, Derek Lance, Tyler Schultz, and Jared Pruett. The good news for them is that their entire bullpen, save Cox, returns. It will need to improve quite a bit though.

Apparently they have a pretty solid recruiting class coming in and that may have been why they agreed to one more year. According to Perfect Game they are ranked 17th in the nation (UK is 8th). They are going to need these recruits to replace the excellent hitting they are losing.

I certainly hope recruiting class ranking (8th) would not be the reason UK brings Henderson back. By the time the draft takes it's toll and Henderson performs his magic :flush:...Any recruiting class will likely under-perform.

Well, this off season is going to be interesting nonetheless. Both Bicknell and Eckstein are at the end of their contracts next month. So, at the very least I expect UK to move on from Eckstein, or possibly both of those guys. UK had one of the worst defensive teams in it's modern history and so that doesn't bode well for Bicknell to get an extension, and we all know that Eckstein has under performed immensely. Henderson, unfortunately, seemingly has 2 more years on his contract. So, will we replace the entire staff, two, or one? Hopefully, we clean house entirely and we move on from the Henderson era.

You then have the draft later on in the year. UK has 5 guys in the top 100 of the 2016 class, so it is hard for me to believe that we'll bring in those 5 guys. So that leaves us with just 7 guys for this year, other than who we might add as JUCO guys. Henderson hasn't shown an ability to get those high profile guys to stick around, and many of the more high profile ones (Heady for example) that do end up coming then underperform. However, we have shown good ability in JUCO, so that's a positive.

In terms of development... I think almost every class has underperformed except possibly the 2012 class.
