If he did get fired, I would bet there is more to the story than just W's and L's.
Yeah , Zimmerman's mom graduated with Rice and they are friends. How's that decision looking now.
Zimmerman and Newman both made the right choice , there is no wrong choice .

To you and a segment of others it's just about NBA or NCAA title . There are other things that are appealing to kids besides those two things . For that matter Duke has won two titles recently , so I guess anybody who went somewhere besides Duke made a mistake . Given equal amounts of money would everybody buy the same car ? No .

As a business decision,, they both made bad choices.. They were offered a Lamborghini and chose a used Ford Taurus..

That could be the kind of position some old fart could run away to. To get away from controversy but still be at a basketball school. Get out on a high note, but have all your appetites available to you.
One of the worst coaches over the past few years, gets top notch recruits every year only to have losing seasons.

It seriously wouldn't surprise me to see Pitino to UNLV. Louisville is gonna get hit hard with sanctions and Dr. Ramsey hasn't given him a vote of confidence. Regardless, it would be a great rumor to rile the Card Nation up.

Well Zimmerman is still sitting at 15th according to draft express but a mid season coaching change certainly could endanger his draft stock.
I understand why he picked UNLV. But I still think If you're a big man and you have a legit offer from Kentucky then it's unwise to turn it down due to Cal and Kenny Payne's track record of developing big men here.
We've had 13 power forwards or centers drafted in 6 years. 9 of which went on the lottery 2 more in the first round, and 1 who's draft stock was non existent until Cal and Kenny Payne got a hold of him.
It's probably why Bolden might be leaning our way despite the presence of so many other bigs on the roster for next season already.
I don't think Zimmerman necessarily made a bad choice. While Rice struggled to win enough games at UNLV he has still managed to get a few guys drafted including a power forward going #1 overall and it was in his home town which is always nice. I just think Zimmerman could have made a better choice.

Next years beat down is going to rewrite the Entire Series! The keys to the chicken bucket will be in Cal's pocket after next season. Cal owns Louisville.
I never wanted Neuman. He seemed to much like Mohammad a few years ago, a player who wanted to "get his" ahead of the team concept. And I'm not convinced Cal recruited him hard.
Zimmerman I wanted! And no, he won't transfer.
Problem there is Pitino is the kind of person who would live in denial. Even if the handwriting is clearly on the wall, he'll refuse to believe hard times are coming right up to the moment the NCAA hands down a really stiff set of penalties.
If that happens. After listening to the Matt Jones/Eric Crawford conversation last week, I'm not sure it will even come to that.
He wouldn't leave UL for 40 million dollars(remember that line?) now for a couple of mid priced hookers, oh that's a whole different matter.
