Is Dane Key one of those players we will love regardless of where he plays next season? Or is there a landing spot that would make you close that door?

The kid seems like the type of kid you want your daughter to date. Could he ever be anything but true blue?

He is one UGA is hard after, he visited last week and went on visit to Nebraska Friday and to OM before us. If he is looking for biggest payday it won't be us. But his longtime GF plays softball at UGA, I guess we have a shot, but not sure where we stand. Always seemed like a good kid.

Maybe he comes back after reviewing tape on the new qb and the other upgrades.

247 has us as the 10th best portal class and On3 has us as the 8th best portal class.
And hopefully our class continues to get stronger and stronger. Still a long way to go.

Personal issue? ‘ cause he’s a good player and I think everyone would love to see him back
He's undisciplined and unmotivated/lazy. More concerned about celebrating every catch and getting personal foul calls than dedicating himself to getting better. With some slight exceptions, he only catches balls that hit him right in the chest as long as there isn't a defender near him.

While not the biggest fan of DK, I don't agree with your assessment of his performance. Had some DA personal foul calls (a few) and, especially in early '23, had the drops. But, the first 7 or 8 games this year, he was our best offensive player. Kind of disappeared the final few games but that may have been as much about Boley not looking exclusively at him, getting double teamed, etc. He's made some tough catches, for sure. Now, if you're thinking Barion Brown, you'd be 100% correct - always on the verge of getting the UC penalty, celebrates 2-yard catches, drops balls right in his bread basket, etc.

You didn’t watch Uk football in 2024

1. Dane has put on weight which he needed
2. Dane had hardly had drops in 2024…just a bad start to 2023 is all we’ve seen at Ky
3. Dane makes tons of catches outside his numbers…don’t know why you’d say he only catches the easy ones

Dane had one personal foul nonsense in 2024…I think it was uga game

He’s been a good wr at Ky…it’s going to sting losing him

The last 5 games he basically disappeared and didn't seem to be working to get open or running good routes. He averaged 2 catches per game over that stretch. That's almost half our season.

In the Florida game, he had 13 targets with only 4 catches. He had several drops in the first half at Ole Miss.

Dane was 15th in sec in receiving yards in 2024…

Dane was hurt in UL game
Dane had 3 receptions vs texas
3 receptions vs Murray

Uk was having eons of qb issues with Brock, Bolley and Wimsatt …especially down the stretch

There is hardly any evidence to suggest Dane quit trying

Yeah sounded like Know1 was getting Dane mixed up with somebody else. Dane had one PF I can think of othewise was pretty much a gamer for us. Played through a lot of frustration trying to get the ball thrown his way when we seemed to try to force it to Brown who did have the the other issues Know was mentioning. And as far as catching the ball Dane had a few drops like everybody but made a ton of really tough catches. In fact early on when he wasnt getting that many targets is seemed almost all of his catches were tough ones in traffic. He has great hands and good ability to catch in in traffic, just lacks get away speed. But he can be a really good possession guy at the next level IMO. Reminds me of Keenan Burton.

Do you even watch UK games? Because it seems like you don't.

A couple of things about receivers that don't show up on the box score. One, is the ability to block downfield, which is what breaks long runs and second is going full out on every play and not just running routes at 100% when you expect to get the ball.

Losing Key was huge for the offense. Losing Brown was huge for STs. Law should help the STs. Hester and Law should be good on offense. Maclin really looked better with Boley than with VB. I expect his numbers to improve if we can get the ball down field. Gilmore could really be the star for next season and we have crop of HS players that look promising. I think Farrier may also be back.

Overall, it could actually be a more productive year. Only time will tell.

I am a harcore UK fan. I live in FL, but travel to see the football team (mostly) and he basketball team (occasionally) 2-3 times a year. I may be unique in this respect, but I really don't care who is playing for the team. I cheer for whoever shows up and as soon as they are gone, my allegiance moves on. Once they leave UK, I wish them well and I carry zero disdain, but they are scratched from the hard drive. I do keep up with the former guys who went to the NFL, but if they transfer to another school, they are like an ex girlfriend after a mutual break up.

And we move on. Doesn’t matter who we have out there to catch the ball if you don’t develop a quarterback that can complete the pass.
Need to find a QB that can throw laying on his back.
If you devolve a QB he leaves the next season for the bigger bucks.
Can't say Stoops didn't help Key devolve from 23 to 24 season. Prime example of the effects of the NIL lure.

It’s all relative to team success. There is no replacement for hard work and dedication. It’s rare these days because it involves maturity. It’s a catch 22. Kentucky is my team. Who coaches them or who plays are secondary to me. I’m starving for success, respect, and the only way to get these are to outwork everybody else. If you don’t want to do it, then step aside..NIL is everybody’s problem. Those who have, can pay for who they want..those that don’t, are left picking thru the scraps. Some of these scraps can play. I refuse to give up.

None of these personnel loss and gains matter. Mitch said we can turn it around quick. To me, that means 7-5+ next year or it's not turned around quick.

With that schedule 6-6 is the best case scenario. I’d take that if I saw the offense move in the right direction
