Damned O Line Finally Bit Us Badly

stoops-snarl-msu__1_.0.0.jpg

O-Line, especially in regard to pass protection, definitely not a strong point. But Levis has to take a lot of blame in this one. I think he holds the ball too long for the known level of protection he is getting. And the "gutsy" plays he makes are often too aggressive/risky especially when it's not crucial.

OL didn't miss PAT's or FG. Didn't give OM range for the FG. Didn't cause Levis to not wait for his O to be set on Key TD pass. Didn't fumble. Didn't trip BB on his possible TD return. Didn't drop screen pass for a possible TD. Outside those, OK, blame OL.

If Wohlabaugh has to play any snaps we’re better off just going ahead and punting the ball.

O-line is what it is but they played better in the second half. I love Levis, and there’s a lot of reasons we lost, but this loss is on him in my eyes.

Safety, refusing to throw the ball away, fumbled the ball, snapped too quick on the Key game winner, and fumbled again. Horrific sequence of events at the end. We were overall the better team today but mistakes by him and the kicker/snapper/holder cost us the win.

This is entirely on the officials. They handed ole piss the game once and they still blew it. Without crooked officiating ole piss has no chance of winning even with UK's errors.

Question (b/c I don't know the answer): Did UK have the right to ask for review of the play near the end when Levis was hit helmet-to-helmet immediately prior to his fumble?

Remember that 3 minute review of Florida’s final fumble at the The Swamp in 2018?

I would have appreciated the same curtesy after Levis’s second fumble.

And I think it was a fumble.

Levi’s taking way too long even when the online gives him time. He had more than enough time to unload the ball on that last play

And failed to climb the pocket. DE went way too far upfield. He should've never been there for the DE to strip.

Teams blitz Levis because he's shown time and again he can't handle it. Poor pre snap diagnosis. Slow reads. Poor pocket presence. Slow internal clock.

He'll keep seeing it all season because he just isn't good at it

Also remember the OL that couldn't run block? Looked alot different today when a good RB was getting the ball.

The OL can definitely play better especially Burton and Cox. They aren't dominant like before but play well enough to win. Football is a team game and other guys need to step up too. Levis has to speed up and learn to slide in the pocket. Given the blitzes we see, the OL doesn't do a bad job.

If Cats were overall better team, they would've won.....Cats weren't the best overall team.....that team won the football game

No moral victories

The line is an issue and Woloblaugh in particular is awful. But they aren’t why we lost. Levis has to get rid of the ball faster and have better pocket presence

Where is Buford? All we heard in fall practice is how well he's looked. Flax goes down and Wohlabaugh goes in, even though it's obvious he isn't ready at this point in his career. I think, if he works hard, he'll turn into a solid OL but not this year. Buford is RS Jr, IIRC, and should be ready for meaningful snaps. Well, that last play was f***ing meaningful. So, why isn't he seeing the field?

Well CRod was still under 4 ypc with 10 as his longest. Not that great.

This is a lazy or low effort take. It’s not unreasonable to believe that if we played them again to think we’d win. Hence me saying I think we’re the better overall team. Yeah, we lost today, and being the better team does squat for us now, but that wasn’t the point of my comment.

You veil one slight positive among multiple criticisms and people still find something to bitch about. Get a grip.

I tried telling some of y’all that CRod wouldn’t make them better. Had fan goggles on though. Couldn’t see the truth.

Having said that, Ole Miss was lucky to win today. Both things are true.

Targeting is the most frustrating rule in all of sports for me. Never seems to go our way or it only does in inconsequential ways. It screwed us with a bad no call once again.

O line is about 8th down the list for me. I thought they played very well. Kicking game and quarterback position lost this game. Even with sub par officiating we should have won by 10+ points. The field goal was a straight choke. XP was letting a tall defender get his mitt up. 3 turnovers inside the 30 yard line killed any chances we had. Not taking the holding call that would have moved them out of field goal range was a rookie mistake by a veteran coach. A very very frustrating day that will linger the rest of the year for me.

The o-line is shaky, but the real problem exists on the corners. The backs and TEs are absolutely awful. How many times have the TEs just whiffed on blocks? A shit ton, that's how many. And don't even get me started on wright. Good grief, just give that kid a red shirt and let him sit on the bench and learn.

What a weak argument. Best road officiating I’ve seen in awhile.

So, if targeting is not called and UK thinks that it might be targeting, can they ask for the play to be reviewed? Or can only an official decide to review it - or is it not reviewable at all because no call was made?

My understanding is that all SEC calls are reviewed in a Bunker in Hoover, Alabama, and that those officials can call the penalty.
