Ranking services got lazy. So many kids were 5-star because they were long, could jump, or played against Make-A-Wish level teams.
Ranking services suck in general IMO. Way too much emphasis on athleticism vs actual basketball skills/fundamentals. Also think their rankings are more geared toward professional aspirations instead of college transition,

I understand some misses, but he came along when Cal was missing more than hitting. Not sure what people saw that led to such a high ranking. Obviously not skilled.

He’s just not skilled, just a skinny kid that could dunk. He could dominate small high school players but once in college he never put on muscle or developed anything.

He dunked on everybody in the Bahamas like a man on a mission. I thought he was going to be great one for us. Never panned out for all of the obvious tragic reasons. Too damn bad. Seemed like a great kid that caught an awful hand.

Yeah, not skilled. Great leaping ability and quickness off the floor. I wonder whether going the mid-major route for 3 years, and then transferring if he developed would have worked?
