I'm guessing that we'll see Dakari back next year. No way he goes in the first round. I don't recall a worse performance this year than today.

Just MHO, of course.

UMMMM Cal said he played a terrific game....But. I guess you know better

you probably think Cal would go on the post game & rip him for playing poorly...

Cal has a pretty good feel of not only how his guys play, but what the fans might pick up on & criticize a little bit.

Cal has never been one to hold back....he calls them out if they deserve it

Poor Dakari probably has a 5inch vertical. He was a black hole today and had a very tough time. If he can get the ball to the middle of the lane for the right hand baby hook, he's pretty good. Other than that, he hasn't really improved much. I think he's dunked what, 3 balls all year? In no way am I complaining about the team or him. That's just the facts. I feel like Cal sometimes praises and tries to find positives in players who are slumping, to try and help them with their confidence. We saw what Dakari could do late last year, and I'm hoping he returns to that same form.
I noticed that as well to be odd to congratulate Dakari of all players (Towns was hands down the main cog in winning along with Lyles). Cal also would congratulate Andrew when he was struggling.

I think it is just a confidence boost to struggling kids with so much talent on the team to keep their hopes up.

I don't think Dakari is playing himself out of the draft...I think he comes back next year...he needs another year to reach more of his potential...
T.

He is 1 month shy of 2 years in and has yet to go straight up. He leans in on every attempt. At this point I wonder why a coach isn't noticing.

Cal has a reason for everything he says. Trying to boost kids confidence by saying they played good. Dakari is to slow with decisions and brings the ball down to his waist. He has regressed considerably. Throwing the ball to him & WCS in the post with back to basket is like a turn over.

Go root for UNC and join THR board, they don't allow any criticism over there. You might be much happier there than here.

Dakari's struggling right now, but I think he'll figure it out eventually.

We have to remember Dakari reclassified, so this should actually be his freshman year. He's got a great motor and work ethic. He's just lacking some natural athleticism and confidence.

The OP might want to review some of the other 30 games. DJ had a nice defensive game today and is one reason why it wasn't close at the end.

He is one of the worst finishers I have seen play. Makes Rob Lock look like Chamberlain.
It's good that we play a plodding style as he would simply not make it in an up and down temo.

I think he played better last season as an over weight guy. At least he was able to use his body to create space, he is doing none of that this year.
His confidence is really low and you can tell. He is very cautious with the ball in his hands, Cal is trying to build his confidence up by praising him.
MAN, I have a WHOLE lot to learn about basketball. I know I am a novice but I'd have called how UK plays anything but "plodding". Really, geez I thought I was learning at least a little basketball. Sigh

Good catch BB , Plodding , us ? LMAO . What we run is literally the exact opposite of that. Some people just can't let the facts get in the way of thier opinion , even when it is horse crap like this one or when someone like Leroy007 talks about how bad our league is . It is just comedy really.
