One of these days the Royals will win a NBA title.Growing up in Northern Kentucky and being in my teens and early 20s in the 1970s, we didn't realize what we were experiencing. I saw Secretariat, the greatest thoroughbred race horse in history win the Kentucky Derby. I saw the Big Red Machine in person probably a couple hundred times between 1970-1976, and most experts would agree that team peaked as the greatest in National League history. And I saw the 1978 Kentucky Wildcats play a couple times, one of the five best Kentucky teams ever. Even the Bengals had a couple decent teams, culminating in a Super Bowl run in 1981...What a decade to be a young sports fan in the NKY-Cincinnati area. I can't imagine it'll ever happen again in that area.
Used to love Friday twi-night DH's. Get off work & a group would head straight to Riverfront. Seats in OF upper deck with our 2 gallons Coleman jug full of draft. Would get home at 1-2a in rather sad shape.
Rose's records are based on longevity - 25 seasons. Same thing with Aaron's. They were both great but not the greatest. That's way enough to be highly respected in their careers.
By coincidence to this discussion, celebration of BRM's 50th anniversary is this weekend. Didn't realize till now that Tony Perez played 23 seasons. Wow. He was my Dad's fav. I never could get enough of Bench.
