Good morning folks.

Back to normal at my house, with my wife’s aunt heading back California.

Another beautiful, clear and cool day in the east with low humidity. Well beg for days like this in a few more weeks as the miserable DC summer sets in.

Heading into work. All’s well. Hope it’s a good day for all of you.

Man I am on the ball.... A regular wizard....

Got home, changed my clothes, opened my backpack to get my laptop... Uh, NO laptop!!!!

Loaded up My Darling and the BB in the car and went right back to the Swamp. Went to my office and retrieved my laptop, just where I left it... Sigh, at least the BB and My Darling got to see where I work.

A 32 or so mile drive took two hours and at least a half one way. Coming home was quicker but in any event, got back home about 30 minutes ago... I'm a regular mental giANT. (Trying to figure out if I will ever do it again...)

Have a good rest of your evening. I am working half days the rest of the week (Two days). The BB graduates Kindergarten tomorrow and the Little Bigger BB graduates pre-school Friday. If the Lord doesn't take me home Ama and Papa plan to attend... Papa's Babies... (So wish I was close to my other four.)

I am looking for any reason, cause, or excuse to hang it up at this point but I still believe I am serving something higher than myself... I trust the Lord to make a way for me. I do NOT doubt his timing. He takes so good care of me.... God Bless you all D-League, and your families...

Good morning folks. Cloudy and muggy in the east. We’ve had a beautiful, cooler than normal spring, but summer is here.

We had a couple more going away parties yesterday as the big buy-out opportunity ar my place reaches its climax. Good people I’ve known for more than a decade, and based on past experiences at other jobs, I’ll probably never see most of them again—maybe once or twice randomly at some funeral down the road. Kinda sad.

One guy who didn’t take the buyout has since gotten fed up with the changes under the new CEO and announced he was quitting in three weeks anyway —giving up 24 weeks pay and a five-figure bonus that he could have gotten in the buyout. Now, that’s a guy who has had enough.

As for me —on the subway, heading downtown. I hope you all have a great day.

Good morning folks.

Anniversary of D-Day...Incredible day for America's military.

One of the battalions I spent time with in Iraq in 2003 was the 299th Combat Engineers. They were supposed to be the first unit in Iraq from the north, through Turkey, but the Turks vetoed that. Instead they seized a series of Republican Guard bases under light resistence, including Taji and Balad, which later became the huge American base Anaconda...

Anyway, they were a proud unit that traced their lineage to being the first Americans on Omaha Beach. Later on the LTC sent me this tee-shirt for what he considered good coverage of his guys...Just last week I was watching "The Longest Day" and Robert Mitchum, playing the 1-star of the 29th Division, turns to his subordinate Eddie Arnold and says, "get those engineers from the 299th to blow a hole in that barbed wire..." So I guess it was true...

Good morning folks. Overcast and light rain in the east. I guess I’ll play it by ear. Lots of options to get out and see stuff today, or if the weather looks promising catch a short hike on a stretch of the Appalachian trail not that far away.

Just happy it is Saturday after a mentally grinding week. I hope all you folks are having a good one.

Good Sunday morning everyone

I love sitting outside in the mornings watching the birds. We have hummingbirds, a nest of bluebirds and assorted others. We haven't seen a bear yet, but have had a couple of visits....no damage.

Our time lately has been consumed with trying to figure out this Alpha Gal diet (and cleaners, soaps, smells etc). We suspect she may also have MCAS (Mast Cell something) and high histamines. We go to Louisville tomorrow to check out the acupuncture option.

Church in a bit, then shopping (ugh, it's difficult now) and then a nice relaxing day. Hope everyone enjoys theirs.

Good morning all,

Hope all works out well Storm. God Bless you and your family.

I'm sitting in my car outside of church waiting a little before going in, still over 30 minutes before the service starts. My Darling is practicing.

I have a cup of coffee. It's raining. Went from near 90 yesterday to 70 today.

Just been too busy. Have to complete my agenda for a meeting I am conducting Tuesday. Too busy tomorrow with meetings and "stuff".

Things will work out but I am a doer, not a plan it and present it for show type person. (No issues documenting processes.)

Oh well, I am thankful and KNOW God is in control. Have a Blessed Lord's Day....

Morning D-Leaguers!

70° this morning with light winds. High in the low 90's expected.

City of Lawton Co-Ed tournament today. We have a first round bye so, we play our first game at 3pm. We finished the regular season at 10-2 for second place. The first-place team had only one loss (we gave it to them last week). We should have run the table but, drinking before games and between games along with a few toking before and between, kept us from being at our best. What can I say, beer league is also cannabis league with the legalization of medical marijuana here.

Back in my drinking days, I played for a team sponsored by a bar. As bad as I was about drinking, it was always after the games were done though.

Yes, drinking just after games. I was too into the games I played to even think about drinking before/during.

Continues on wet & cooler than average in NKy that's been going on for over month. Cut lawn late pm yesterday with prediction of a lot of rain overnight. Prediction did not disappoint. Yard squishy now.

The Babe had nothing on me ;) , I am 67 and still playing. Of course, I was never (still not) a power hitter. I maybe averaged 1 home run a year in my youth and that was only because I was trying to hit it deep to the outfield with a runner at third tagging to score and would get lucky with the wind at my back. Always a base hitter.

Good afternoon folks.

Cloudy and threatening to rain in the east. Had to cut my run short this morning when my occasionally arthritic knee locked up and starting spasming. Ah well. As the young Rolling Stones said, "what a drag it is getting old." The old Rolling Stones don't seem to mind it, as it comes with a license to print money in their case.

Went to church, where the priest and his acolytes doused the entire room in incense. Something to do with this being Pentacost. My wife claimed to like it. It reminded me of the tail end of the hippie days in the early 1970s when I was in my mid-teens, and burning incense was a thing. Never did really like the smell.

Heading out to do a few chores. I hope you all have a good day.

Speaking of smells in church my wife had to leave early today. The strong scents (probably the older ladies around us) caused her to have a reaction. Many perfumes, air fresheners, etc. have mammal products in them too. Too bad, I had an old buddy that I hadn't seen in a few years come in late and I missed the opportunity to catch up.

Just got back from the city of Lawton end of spring league tournament. We won it. Pictured below is the team (not everyone made it today) and one guy left early before we finished to go to the Oklahoma Thunder-Indiana Pacers game 2 so, that is most of the team. I am the one with the Reds hat on.

We got tumblers instead of individual trophies. Pictured below.

Had a good day at the plate with one hit burning the left fielder. Warning track power as it hit the fence. Only got put out once and that was a line drive to the 3rd baseman. He had to catch it or eat it. I had several hit at me on the mound and one bounced up while my glove was down and got me in the groin.

Yes, I was wearing a cup and everyone on the field and in the stands heard it hit and started laughing saying that they bet I was glad to be wearing a cup. Yes, yes I was.

^Couple weeks back, 64 yrs old friend was playing & got hit in the eye from a bad bounce on hard infield. Was in hospital a couple of days. He's waiting on the correct replacement lens - like cataract surgery - to arrive for the surgery to get his vision back. As is, he can make out dark/light, colors, vague definition of figures.

Congrats, champ.

Good morning from ATX. Side effects from chemo really kicking my butt. Have been since last week's infusion.

feeling tired or weak
decreased appetite
nausea
cough
shortness of breath
.

Got all of 'em. Wonder why decreased appetite suddenly hits after nearly 29 months on this stuff?

Must unlock or re-certify 60 external accounts today. Fun awaits. Meh, enough about me.

Monday, Monday....

Wishing y'all a great start to your week.

Nausea is horrible in my book. Here is to good health Austin.

Good morning folks.

Austin, I'm sorry to hear about those side effects. Hang in there.
Warrior, congratulations. My son has been offered a U.S. FW job -- a good promotion from the one he has now in Texas -- at the Wichita Wildlife Preserve outside Lawton. The only catch - he has to wait until ANYONE in USFW is allowed to hire again. But if and when, he has already started researching basketball leagues for top amateurs in Lawton. I thought of it when I saw your photos.

Sunny and pleasant in the east. Finished my running schedule for the week and can relax for a couple days -- if you call working relaxation. Hope it is a good day for all of you.

I used to play in downtown leagues in basketball, but that was many, many years ago. Don't know if they are still running them now though.
