D-League

Good morning from ATX. Yeah, I'm up early. Fell asleep in the chair wearing compression socks. Currently 69°F and partly cloudy.

Plan on hiking at first light. May walk to grocery store.

Wishing y'all another outstanding Saturday.

Morning D-Leaguers!

65° this morning with rain expected in minutes along with possibilities of severe thunderstorms for the next couple of hours and rain continuing throughout the day.

Wildcats game last night was postponed and will be played after today's game so...double header starting at 1330ct with the second game to follow.

Reds back at .500 beating the Rockies (away) 8-7 last night. Struggled with pitching as each time the Reds took the lead they would lose it in the same inning. Play again today at around 1300. Once again, I will be bouncing back and forth between games.

Saturday line up? Workout but can't walk the monster because the rain is supposed to be all day. Cleaned house and cut the yard yesterday so, it will allow for the second part of the day to be baseball heavy.

You folks relax and enjoy your weekend and God Bless.

Cool start to Derby Week but that's perfect for the Mini Marathon and Balloon Race today. Even though I don't take part in most of the festivities these days it's still my favorite time of the year. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, unlike Thunder Over Louisville which had to be cancelled this year due to flooding.

Raining heavy here again today and my shop is flooded already with heavier rains expected around noon to late afternoon. Have some work to do in the near future figuring out a solution.

Sorry to hear Warrior. Hope there wasn't too much damage.
No, I have all things elevated that could be damaged. I worry more about long term structural (floor and ground underneath) damage. There is a spring under the ground in the easement area that also extends to my property. When there is a lot of rain it rises to the surface and flows. Moderate to light rain even if continuing for a day or two does not run into the shop. Short to long burst of heavy does though and that is what we had yesterday. More to come the coming week.

Morning D-Leaguers!

63° this morning with light winds. High to be in the upper 70's. I should be fishing except the area's I go to are hard to get to without a 4x4 because of all of the rain.

I will just have to keep myself busy with some baseball as the Cats (took one of two in double header yesterday) play at 1200ct against SC and the Reds (won yesterday 6-4) try to complete the sweep of the Rockies today at 1410ct.

Have to get the monster out here shortly for a walk as she missed yesterday due to the rain so, she is chomping at the bit to go. All three of our other dogs stayed in the house yesterday until a break in the weather to go out and use the bathroom. The monster stayed on the concrete slab just outside of the backdoor even when it was thundering and lighting. She seems to have no fear. During July fireworks when the other three are cowering in the house, she runs towards the lights and booming barking away.

Well, you good people enjoy your hopefully restful Sunday and God Bless.

Good morning folks. Back from church. It is a beautiful day in the east, sunny and cool. Blossoms everywhere in the area where we live. One of my favorite times of the year.

Went for a run this morning. I think after lunch I'll drive to the C&O canal which runs along the Potomac River near where I live past some rapids called Great Falls. It'll be especially lovely along the river today.

Have a great Sunday.

Bat Cats take their first series at home today with an 11-6 win over the Gamecocks and the Reds sweep the Rockies to go up 2 games over .500 (15-13).

Cards to visit Reds starting tomorrow evening. Cards 2-11 on the road so let's hope their woes continue. Sorry Bernie but I need the Reds to take the Cards out, God knows we have struggled against the Cards for many years now.

The Cards fired last years hitting coach. He was a .240 hitter in COLLEGE and they made a MLB hitting coach out of him. They are hitting a little better with the new guy, but pitching is still spotty. Walker and Gorman have a ton of potential, but both have my problem. Their hips fly open and they swing and miss way to many low and away breaking balls. The new coach is working on it, but has not corrected it.

Good morning folks. Sunny and cool in the east. Had to break out a layer of thermals for the morning run.

Hard at work. A busy day. Not much else happening.

I'll leave you with an internet poll my son says all his early-20 friends are debating: Could 100 men, with nothing but their barehands, kill a lowland gorilla. I say yes, if about 25 of them were willing to sacrifice their lives by rushing him in groups of five and getting ripped asunder. The beast would eventually wear down and I'd guess the survivors would be able to choke him out...

Have a good day folks.

Since the cognitive revolution took place in Homo Sapiens about 75,000 years ago those 100 men would have used their brains instead of their bare hands to take out the gorilla! We got smart and the gorilla's never developed the cognitive abilities that the mutation gave humans.

Hello all,

To state the least, I have been busy. I am thankful but busy. Barely had time to sit and do anything but work.

I am thankful...

Found out it may be that Huntington's disease may run in my family. Found out my brother has it. MTF but in any event, I am thankful.... I was told at the VA I had to wait until December to be tested. I was at my appointment this past Thursday and the doctor there saw the notes of my ask and sent an email. In short they were able to use the blood test I took that day so we shall see... This seems to be a fatal disease with no cure. That's okay as it is stated that once symptoms are noticed it takes 10 to 30 years to die from it. No one I know of in my family has lived to 80 or even 75 so... I will die one day but I do not think it will be this thing that takes me.

My brother found out a couple weeks ago but has had some symptoms it seems for a year or two.

Kind of angering though, the doctor that saw my brother accused him of being drunk.

Keep in mind, my brother was a corporate jet pilot for 33 years and now at 73 is still instructing. He is very competent. (Broke his foot a few years ago and I attributed a lot of his gimp to that issue.

While he could have symptoms as I do not see him regularly at all being that he lives in Michigan and I live in Virginia, I do talk to him and Sis regularly.

Bugs me more as the VA doctor who told me I had to wait until December to be seen sent me a letter today telling me I needed to mail and or fax him some documents. I asked my primary care doctor if scanning and sending them securely is a more quick resolution.

Yeah, I may be degenerating but DARN, I do not like dealing with those who think think they have it going on. (Wasn't a form letter either, it was typed that way.)

Yeah one of the symptoms it seems is mood swings but I'd sure like to sit with him a while and see how dumb I really am.

Oh well, I am off my rant now.

Know one thing, God is still in control and I am thankful... 😍

Morning D-Leaguers!

More rain this morning with heavy rain coming in later this morning until about midnight. There will be a small window without rain so, the monster will get a walk shortly. Only plus for me with so much rain is that my fishing holes will be beyond full when I get the chance to get back to it as more rain expected for the week and then some.

BB, hopes and prayers.

For the rest of you, be safe out there and God Bless.

Got the monster walked, and workout done, now it is time to clean house. Wooo! Hooo!. Anybody want to help? Listening to 70's Funk right now while getting ready to clean. Drowning out the sound of the rain.

Reds won again last night and are now 3 games above .500 (Sorry Bernie again).
I think it is ineptness, but some on Cards talk forums think DeWitt (they call him dimwitt) wants to sell/move the Cards and he wants a low payroll to better facilitate it happening. Attendance is lower than it has been in many years. I guess this kind of parallels the way things went before St Louis lost their NFL team.

Afternoon D, lost a good friend, he was a friend to everyone, yesterday! Any body who has ties to Muhlenberg Co has heard of the Taylor or Sparks family. These families have dominated basketball in our county for years at the Central City Golden Tide and other schools here. Sammy Sparks passed away yesterday. He was a great role model, family man, friend and all around great person!! He is Patrick Sparks uncle, please keep this family in your prayers!!

Good morning folks.

BB, I hope all works out with your diagnosis. As I recall, Huntington’s can be ruled out with a genetic test, as was the case with Arlo Guthrie whose father Woody had it. I’ll hope that is what happens for you.

Heading into work early today. I’ll wish you all a happy Tuesday.

Thanks, I am just waiting on the result now. My brother said it took about three weeks. Not sure what the VA will take. I am thankful...

I really messed up though but no harm no foul. I messed up what the difference between taking the DRP and not taking it and retiring the end of December. It is about a hundred and fifty dollars per month versus the five hundred I had figured. Darn... In any event my mind isn't ready anyway so...

Have a fine evening, taking My Darling to her eye appointment tomorrow to see the second eye issue... I am thankful...
