Crystal Ball updates for Malik Monk, Kobi Simmons

Fox and Monk are really the guys who matter. Cal could surround them with YMCA players and they'd still give Kentucky a shot next year.

I absolutely love Giles, but if I had to choose between Harry or the Monk/Fox combo, I'd pick the combo. I have a feeling it might go down as the greatest backcourt in Kentucky's modern history if it happens. Wall/Bledsoe would be hard to top, and Knight/Lamb was special, but I feel Fox and Monk will both go top 10 in the draft, and we've never had a guard tandem pull that off in the same year.

The two Duke guys who are projecting Monk to UK are among the best prognosticators at 247. They aren't just lemmings or guys who throw darts hoping they'll get a pick right occasionally. If they are predicting UK they have heard something.

Gotta agree with SonOfSaul. Most would probably consider Wall and Bledsoe the best backcourt tandem, but with those guys, Wall is elite and Bledsoe at SG was probably a notch below elite. If he had the chance to play pg, he might have been elite. With the Fox and Monk backcourt, both guys are elite at their positions. I think those two would end up being our best backcourt in the Cal era. I think Fox is uk bound, let's hope Monk is as well.

Obviously two top 5 player would be better than 1 top 5 player.

But, why does one affect the other? I would think Monk/Fox would be helpful to getting Giles.

I'm still dreaming of adding Monk/Fox/Giles. That would be awesomeeeeesee

its so wonderful of the NBA to send Cousins, Davis and WCS down to play a preseason game just as Giles is visiting. Even if he was a duke lock before , Those three guys having a discussion with him could do wonders.
Lmao, that's a good point. Two of the best big men on the planet (maybe the best with Davis) and a top 10 pick in WCS.

Anyone know the NCAA guidelines regarding (alumini & recruit) interactions during recruiting visits. Not sure that our NBA a guys can even speak with them.

If so, these recruitments are over!

I think it's a violation but MSU used Draymond Green for Miles Bridges and the other few players they have in the NBA.

all they have to do is be enrolled in 1 online class... which most of our former players are unless they already graduated.

But lets be honest.... every BCS team does this whether former players are enrolled or not. The last time a team got in trouble for this was UNC because the player was ignorant of the rule and mentioned in an interview he talked with 3 former tar heels and none of those guys were enrolled.

According to that idiot Sparty fan that was here smack talking about Bridges recruitment, MSU even brought Magic Johnson in to talk to Bridges. No way that dude is enrolled in classes still.

Jerry has picked every possible school for Simmons.

Because his recruitment has changed. No disrespect but I wish some on here would realize what the crystal ball is intended to be. It's meant to be a indication of what is happening in the recruitment at that point in time. Recruitment change all the time, so that's why the predictions don't stay the same. Why would Meyer or anyone else put down a concrete prediction of where a recruit is going a year or two before that recruit ultimately makes a decision? That doesn't make sense and that's not what the crystal ball is for anyway. Simply to give an indication of what's going on during the recruitment. That's all. People bash the "experts" all the time on here for changing their crystal ball prediction but it's supposed to be ever changing, it's supposed to follow the ups and downs and streaks of a recruitment. Simmons was high on UK, then Fox came into the picture and became priority, so UNLV surged. Now it looks like it's changed once again with OSU surging towards the end, thus the prediction changing. Just as it's intended to be.

no something is going on with Thon Maker's recruitment. Everyone but desperate schools stopped recruiting him

Pretty much.

When you're a top 10 player and UK, Duke, Kansas, UNC, UCLA, Arizona etc. stop talking to you, something is up.

According to his timeline on 247, not even UL is calling.

Nobody read this. I'm not the grammar nazi's but paragraphs can help.

I read somewhere that Maker has not yet been able to take any OVs because he has not yet taken his ACT.

The fact that he has not taken it at this point is probably a major red flag. It either indicates the kid will never play college basketball or there are doubts he could qualify.

Yeah. That train passed ages ago.

You don't have to choose because Giles isn't an option.

Let's hope they heard something, not trying to discount your post.. but my guess is that's not the case. The Crystal Ball is a little bit of a game ... why not switch picks to UK and keep it there for a few days, if positive info comes out you are a few days ahead of everybody. Whether they know anything or not, it makes them look like they have an inside scoop. Seems pretty common for the prognosticators to switch to the school with the most recent visit too. But I will take it as a good sign :)

Hopefully they did hear something, or will hear something and keep the pick UK and the most important thing... get it right...lol I don't know much about those guys that switched either, maybe they don't play the "game" with the Crystal Ball...

Giles...... i agree with everyone that Duke is the perceived favorite but is that the prevailing thought just because Tatum is going there? And....maybe that Duke is getting the last visit? I don't follow recruiting as closely anymore ( meaning I'm not an insider on any site) but it would be interesting to know how loose lipped Giles and his camp are. Some of these kids are so tight lipped and secretive, they keep everyone guessing till the last moment.

I know nothing on Giles.. but the peeps that are so sure about him going to Duke.... Why do you think that? Reading the tea leaves which favor Duke? Or is there some insider sites out there getting info from inside Giles camp with legit info? If it's the former, then we should all agree it's just us guessing?

If there is one thing assured, Sandy Bell would be ALL OVER this if it was even hinted to be against the rules. You can rest with that thought.
