John Toth is arguably the best pro prospect on the team. I don't expect to lose anyone early to the draft this year, but if there is one player that might make the jump it could be Toth.
Even though I hope he does get that opportunity at the end of the season, I would like for Drake to have at least one year learning from Toth.

Doubtful in my opinion. I worry more about Towles leaving.

Hopefully, Toth will stick around for one more year to tutor Drake Jackson as he redshirts. It wouldn't hurt him to add a little more size before getting into the league, either.

Unless Patrick has made a 500% improvement, he would be pretty dumb to to declare this year. Pat hasn't been the QB that either Lorenzen or Woodson proved to be and of those two only JLo could make a roster and stick in the league as a backup for a few years. Not accurate enough and hasn't developed the vision to see the whole field.

^Agreed. Centers rarely go high in the draft, unless he's thought of as being incredibly versatile.....like he could play any interior o-line position well, I think he'll be around for next yr.

Normally an interior OL isn't a priority for NFL teams to take in the first couple of rounds. If he has RS, has his degree and makes some AA teams sure there is a chance. As one poster said Towles would be a big concern, if he shows he can run through his projections and make the throws he is exactly what NFL teams look for in a franchise qb. Big, mobile with a strong arm, I know he is a RS, probably near his degree and a team looking for a starter in a couple of years could take a chance on him.

After looking at the current depth chart, I really don't see anyone going pro early. Towles is the most likely option and I don't even think he'll go.

There is very little chance of Toth leaving school early. He is a Brebeuf Jesuit grad. His parents did not send him to Brebeuf for him to bail on college early. I'm fairly certain he is not majoring in kinesiology.

He will probably graduate this year. Remember he has been here 4 years already.

I understand that it is not a position of need. I get that. But if he has an all American type year, will his stock ever be any higher? 4th-5th round is better than coming back and blowing out a knee.

I don't think you are taking into account what NFL teams base draft decisions on. There have been dozens of guys over the years who have lit the college passing stats on fire and who have either contended for, or, won, Heismans, and who were considered marginal prospects at best and ended up getting drafted late or not at all. Timmy Chang, Kellen Moore, Colt Brennan, and the list goes on and on. Meanwhile, mediocre college quarterbacks like Logan Thomas find themselves drafted in the fourth round and he's certainly not the only example. Towles is already better than Thomas was. Like it or not, Towles has plus NFL tools and those are things that you have or you don't. That's why Kiper has him ranked as high as he does. Which is not to say that Towles would be wise to leave early' absent a sensational year, he needs to return.

As for Toth, he certainly could be tempted to leave early, but, as a center, the only way he gets a chance to get drafted in the first two or three rounds is to actually be one of the top few centers in the country. It's probably going to be in his best interest to stay for the last year, continue to get experience against NFL caliber d linemen in the SEC, and continue to gain strength.

I agree with you. In truth, the most pro-ready prospect we probably have among underclassmen is MacGinnis,, but I couldn't really see any point in a kicker leaving early considering that they rarely get drafted anyway.

While it would be a good thing to sell to recruits (players drafted), I hope we get everyone back. Next year could be a very special year for Kentucky football.

He isn't going anywhere, nor could he if he wanted to. He needs more seasoning.

Not saying Toth can't or won't make an NFL roster, but I would say Stamps and Lewis project as NFL prospects better than Toth IMO.

Towles definitely has all the measurables...but as noted throughout, LOT's of progress needs to be shown in the mental side of the game before he even thinks about going pro. with stud QB's that you know will stick in the NFL, you can just see the "IT" factor that the game isn't to fast for them. I haven't seen that at all from Towles yet.

For comparison, although I despise UL, I knew Bridgewater's sophomore year that he was going to be a good pro. He just never seemed to be in a hurry and always looked like everything around him was moving in slow motion. Hopefully Towles shows us that this year..

Or he could come back as a senior and be on the short list for the best Center in the country award list(don't remember the name) and go in the 2nd or 3rd round with much better guaranteed money.. You blow your knee in the NFL the first year and that's usually all she wrote. Especially so with a late round draft pick that they don't have all that much invested in..
