Cornbread is good. Fried corncakes are even better. Go the savory route and add some onions in them. Or, leave the onions out, and go the sweet route by topping them with sorghum or molasses.
Love it with barbecue.
I make cornbread just about every Sunday in my cast iron skillet. Sometimes just regular ole cornbread and sometimes Mexican depending on what’s for dinner.
When i was a kid my mom had a cast iron cornbread stick pan. LOVED when she made those.
Once it cools, take a piece of cornbread and crumble it up in a big glass of cold milk. Eat it with a spoon. Heaven!
Cream corn and candied jalapenos are great for mexican cornbread.
i have three of them, each makes seven sticks.
when i was a kid we had milk and cornbread pretty regularly. i never liked white (sweet milk) but have always liked buttermilk. i always use whole buttermilk to make cornbread batter.
Who the hell doesn’t like cornbread? Someone I have no interest in knowing, that’s who.

If you aren’t using buttermilk then you are doing cornbread wrong.

Years ago there was a radio personality from here in the Cincinnati area, Gary Burbank. At one time he owned a chain of bbq restaurants called Burbank’s. They served the best damn cornbread I’ve ever eaten. It was phenomenal! I want some right now!
Love some cornbread crumbled up and pour some pinto beans overtop. Makes a meal by itself. Also the warm cornbread and milk is a winner.
Soup beans and cornbread has to be up there as one of my favorite meals.
Make sure to add some butter and let it melt in the soup beans while still hot before you crumble the cornbread in it. 🔥🔥🔥
