Cops

Saw channel 18 story about a 66 year old with dementia arrested at the Danville Walmart. I was seeing both sides until cop #3 punches him 6 times while cops 1 and 2 handcuffed him.

Story
It's probably been over 15 years ago now, but there was a woman in her 80's who had dementia and was breaking her OWN windows out with a grass rake. Her neighbor called the cops because they were afraid she was going to hurt herself. A county deputy answered the call, and upon arrival, tasered her to the point she was convulsing on the ground. The deputy wound up getting suspended and eventually fired, but if I were a betting man, I'd say he went on to get another job in another county in law enforcement. What kind of man tasers an old woman who is wielding a damn lawn rake? My mom was in her 80's and had dementia. I'm pretty sure I could have taken a rake away from her without much fanfare, and certainly not needing to taser her.

I was in downtown Louosvolille this weekend. I looked down the street, saw a cop and felt safer. I thanked him for being a LEO. He tipped his hat and said THANKS

An all timer. Laughing is illegal.
Is that cop related to Billy Clyde? Reminds me of him kicking Dusty Mills off the team for laughing on the bench. He really wanted to arrest him for laughing and so pissed he had to let him go on the roadside. Threatening him with 6 months in jail for an unsigned registration card. Little man syndrome at its finest with that deputy. The explanation from the sheriff is a load of horse manure and some next level gaslighting.

I had a friend back in high school that was adamant that he could jump out of a vehicle running 50 mph and keep running. I tried to explain why he couldn't do it and he would get mad and said he was going to do it. I don't think he ever tried it going that fast. He may have tried it going about 5 mph. I don't know for sure.

Hopefully he listened enough to not do it at 50 MPH and end up like the guy in that video with the possibility of some broken bones trying that on asphalt at a high rate of speed.

I am generally supporting the cops, but I just saw the most disgusting video of a police shooting I've ever seen and it's one in which the grand jury did not indict. It's from Rusk County Texas and is now a national news story because of a civil lawsuit that resulted in the release of bodycam. The victim is in a category that nobody cares about (white male, with some criminal history, probably not with a lot of money or social status) so, of course, no charges.

"Thomas Jefferson was a strong advocate for state militias over standing armies, believing they were a more suitable defense mechanism for a republic. He argued that standing armies could be used by a government to suppress the people and were "inconsistent with freedom". Instead, Jefferson favored a well-trained militia, believing an armed and capable citizenry was the best protection against tyranny. "

Modern police are a state sponsored standing army and Jefferson was correct. I do not know the answer but we have become a police state.

There's a video on it earlier in this thread. The one in London is as bad or worse
