You get to hang another Elite 8 banner, you beat UK once out of 3 games, and nobody wants Barnes.

No, in all seriousness. It’s not easy succeeding at a program who’s backbone is women’s basketball. Your first final four is getting close.

Till then…

Careful man, you might get accused of being weak talking crap about someone who ran us off the floor once.

So long Ziggy!!
Barnes will petition the NCAA to get that 40 year old man a few more years. "Come on, he'll get that Final Four by the time he's 50, I promise!"

UT fans on X were laughing at Pope for already hitting the recruiting trail after our loss the other night, acting like it wouldn't help anything. I guess that means Barnes or whoever coaches them next year shouldn't be out there offering the next Chaz Lanier a bag since that "stud" didn't get them any further than last season. Might as well shut their program down 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Tennessee ignorance at its finest. So glad I don't live in that state anymore and back home.

Haha true. Maybe I am the curse LOL.

I started at the tail end of Arsene Wenger's time lol.
No worries . I am Liverpool fan but Arsenal had their good days with Wenger and his French and Dutch players and earlier with Graham. I think now they are in good hands as far as coaching but City and Liverpool have dominated the PL.

At least you not an MU fan. They are very pissed off these days.

We need to look in a mirror. We have not been to a final four in 10 years. We actually were thrilled to get to the final 32 this year after our last few years. Until we can show that we are back, and we aren't yet, we should not be bragging too much. With NIL it will not be throwing our jock strap on the court and win the game. Going forward there will be 4 to 5 SEC teams capable of the final four because of deep deep NIL pockets. I don't know what the odds are for any team to reach the final four but it is certainly a long shot. The odds that we get to the final four in the next 10 years are worse than they were for the past 10 years. NIL is the difference maker. We have listed several portal names that would be great here and we have contacted but it seems we have not landed any that we were really hoping to get. Prior to NIL most of those kids would have been in line hoping to come play in Rupp. Think about where college basketball recruiting has evolved and the difficulty it is to build and retain a strong roster from one year to the next. If Pope whiffs on the athletes that we need, our team next year may not be one bit improved from a sweet sixteen team we had this year. I know some here will get pissed with this post but we will no longer get everyone we want or need. Every team in the SEC is pushing the heck out of their basketball programs. An earlier thread about the difficulty of being a coach with transfers and NIL showed by a majority of responders that it is significantly more difficult. We have 8 championships in 77 years and most of those years we a long time ago when just a handful of other schools invested in their basketball programs, thus winning was much easier than it is today. Someone mentioned the lady coach at Tennessee and that they respected her. I looked up her record and she must have been a great coach but most of her championships occurred before other schools invested in their basketball programs. All this said, we need not trash other programs to raise our level. I also looked at the TN and KY results for past 10 years. They have been as successful overall as we have. Just show some respect and class. It is not very hard to do.

Auburn has won 149 games in past 6 years
Tennessee has won 148
Alabama has won 140
Kentucky has won 136
Arkansas has won 135
Florida has won 124
This shows an indication that schools are investing basketball facilities, coaches, and players and the competition is fierce.

Trying to figure out why you type “we” in that post?

I can’t imagine pretending to be a fan of a rival? Weird as hell.

I’m not bragging about UK, where does it say that? I’m making fun of a program that’s peaking and still can’t accomplish anything.
Cats got a new coach this year…..who in their right mind expects a final four from a coach that threw a team together overnight? Cats beat Duke, UL, UT twice, Gonzaga and Florida. I’m thrilled with that.
Vols continue to come up short every year. Even with seasoned coach and returning starters they can’t break out of irrelevancy. They’re a women’s program, bottom line.

Too long

They lose a LOT of talent this year. And might be losing Barnes.

Unless they get Beard or get Pearl back.....they might slip into obscurity for a bit
been thinking this about UT and some other teams that have enjoyed recent success. Some teams are really losing a lot and I just don't see the portal plugging all the holes these teams are going to need.

They'll surely plug players back in to fill out rosters, but gone are the days of decades long players staying at a school (I am so gonna miss Ziggy!!!) ! 😉 Even just a slight slippage at the top will crack open the door for a program like ours, usually right there waiting our chance, for those teams that slip and fall, we're there to pickup the pieces.

Unless some of these teams get several home run portal hits, they will definitely not be playing at the level they have been. UT is just one school where the questions about having the coach return is cropping up. And even having a coach like Bill Self isn't keeping Kansas immune to experiencing some "era transitioning" pain.

In the meantime, we have our new coach, a refreshing and rejuvenating transition season under our belts and reloading our own roster with a good core returning.

Not bad here at all.....

Such an interesting time here at Kentucky. We're all over looking at the portal, staying engaged in lively discussion and interesting talk about a variety of things for the off season.

And the future looks very bright.

Sweet time to be a Kentucky basketball fan !

Go Big Blue !
