Coming to Lexington for UK/SC - recommendations MUCH appreciated

I love Keeneland (been a long time tho) but it's a quick turn around for me - leaving Atlanta Saturday AM and heading back Sunday.

Tells us how much you love UK Football! Dang that's a short turnaround.

I did that for a game @USC and one @UGA years ago

There are several cheap motels right off I 75 on North side of Lexington. There is an expensive hotel next to Rupp. Rupp has shuttle busses to the stadium. l always use the Rupp shuttle.

We stay across the street from Rupp at a very nice Airbnb. You can see Rupp from the balcony.

Food i smash Goodfellas pizza. Great up going to Joe Balognas but nowadays I stay at goodfellas because I’m a New York slice head. Eat both.

Just scored tix for UK/SC next week, will be driving up from Atlanta.

Please, any hotel/parking/eating recommendations are greatly appreciated!
So you don't have a hotel reservation? That should priority #1 for you. Hotels in the immediate Lexington area, at least those worth staying at, may (or may not) already be booked up..

If you're not the partying kind, you may want to consider a hotel down in Richmond, Berea, etc. to give you a head start on driving back to Atlanta.

Your timeline is kind of tight.... Not sure if you planning to meet anyone for tailgating; from what you're saying you're basically doing this almost on the spur of the moment. If you don't have anybody to meet up with, just going to KSR Grill and then catching the shuttle over to the game is as a good an option as any.

OTOH, if you just want to get the hell out of town after the game, you could park for free in Parking Structure #2 just west of the WT Young library.

Good luck!

I am also heading up just for the game. Coming from South Carolina. Got a gamecock wife converted to UK. Where would the best place be to park around the stadium? We are driving up Saturday morning and leaving Sunday morning.

If you aren't tailgating I would strongly advise taking the Rupp shuttle. Park in the back lot for free. Plenty of choices for bars and restaurants downtown. Picks up in front by the food court. $1 per person each way. Have singles. Not sure if they will make change.

Parking structure # 3, on Huguelet Drive, is free on the weekends as well and a block from the stadium.

But come early because it fills up quickly.

If you're up to celebrate after the game, make you sure you head to Cowboy's and Indi's.
Don't forget Al's Bar, since we're doing the Northside Social thing. 🤣 Of course, it's gentrified now. Pretty sure Cowboy's isn't. 🤣

Hotel: will probably be tough at this juncture, but could try Richmond if all of the LEX hotels are booked.
Eating:
-High-End: Tony's or Jeff Ruby's for steak. Dudley's or Eppings or Cole's for southern gourmet. Italx or Frank and Dino's for Italian.
-Moderate: East End Tap & Table. Cool setting, American-asian fusion. Sage Rabbit - farm to table, very good.
-Inexpensive: City BBQ, Joe Bologna's pizza,

Here’s a link to the UK Campus map:

Huguelet Drive is now essentially an extension of Virginia Avenue. I’m not seeing a P.S. #3 on the map. As I mentioned in a previous post, P.S. #2 is just west of the main library. It’s probably the closest free parking area that I know of.

I’ve done it twice this year. Here’s the link to the LexTran shuttle page:

Even though the web page says the Virginia Avenue (KSR) shuttle doesn’t run until two hours before the game, I’ve noticed they start running about 4:30 for a 7pm KO. They keep the buses running so they will leave KSR partially full so you won’t have to wait for the bus to get full.

Getting to the game on the shuttle is a breeze, but coming back is a pain, just due to the crush of people waiting to get on the bus plus the post game traffic. Be prepared to allow 30-45 minutes to get back to KSR.

Safe travels!

I'm at work at the moment and can't open the link, but the parking structure I'm talking about is at 140 Huguelet Drive. It's located directly behind the Kentucky Clinic. It's free only on weekends and holidays, thus it's free, but first come first serve on football Saturdays.

Parking Structure #3 is the Kentucky Clinic Garage on this map. It is free on game days and plan on having a backup if you are not parked in there by 4:00, especially if the weather is good.

Also Parking Structure #6 (also called Press Ave Garage) is free too, and it’s a shuttle stop along the route the KSBar shuttle takes.
